Improve Running Endurance

Running promotes cardiovascular health.

Running promotes cardiopulmonary fitness and helps to regulate weight and blood pressure. Many aspiring runners lack the stamina to tackle a marathon their first day out -- instead, they work slowly at it, starting with a few miles or even a few blocks, then gradually increasing their endurance until they run the distance they want. Discipline and good nutrition are the keys to success.

Instructions

1. Set realistic goals.Setting easy-to-attain running goals will provide small victories. For example, if you know you can run 10 blocks in your neighborhood but it takes you a considerable effort, try setting your goal to run six or seven blocks instead. Each subsequent week you will feel confident enough to step it up a notch, building your endurance, and the discipline of meeting minor goals make it more likely you'll persist to meet your major goal.

2. Hydrate properly. Don't wait until you're thirsty to chug some water -- drink it constantly in smaller amounts throughout the day. Dehydration can kill motivation faster than just about anything else, but over-hydration on long-distance runs causes sodium imbalances that has killed marathon runners. Consume three-fourths of a standard Nalgene bottle of water per hour of running.

3. Eat properly. Running out of energy on a run is a huge motivation killer, and dips in blood sugar could prompt you to black out or stumble. Although you shouldn't eat a large meal immediately before running, topping off with 300 to 400 calories two hours before a run will help keep your blood sugar stable during your run.

4. Run in community. Running is one of the few sports a person can do solo or with a group. Even one other person is great for keeping you going. A partner can keep your runs interesting for conversation and motivation.

5. Pace yourself. If you want to improve your running endurance, running fast until your body runs out of energy is not the way to do it. Instead pace yourself at an even tempo. If you can't carry on a normal conversation with the person running next to you, then you're pushing yourself too hard -- slow down.

Fix Teen Hair

We have approximately 100,000 hairs on our heads

If you are a teen who would like to explore new hairstyles, there are a variety of hairstyles that you can try that will complement your face, the clothes you wear and your style. You can choose to wear stylish bangs, create up-dos or braids. If you take the time to learn to create more hairstyles, styling your hair can become simple. All you need are some styling tools to assist you, and you're ready to go. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Create a messy bun with a two-sided bang. Place your comb on the left side of your forehead and pull the comb into the hair to create a two part bang that will hang on both sides of your face. Pull your hair up. Use a ponytail holder to secure it in place. Pull the ponytail outward to give your hair some length. Pull the ponytail forward into a loop and use a bobby pin to hold it in place. Pull your bun back until it fans out. Scrunch and pull on the bun to create a messy bun. Pin down the strands of hair that are sticking out with bobby pins, but keep the bun messy.

2. Braid your hair into a fishtail braid. Pull your ponytail on the side or directly back of the head and fix it into place with a ponytail holder. Separate the ponytail into two even pieces. Take a piece from the back of one of the half ponytails and then bring the piece to the middle to blend with the rest of the section. Do the same for the other half of the ponytail. You will have two sections in your hand the entire time. Keep alternating between the two half ponytails. Repeat these steps until your braid is done.

3. Braid her into french braids with zigzag parts. In the center of the hair, create zigzag parts on the top part of the hair to the back of the hair. Hold one of the ponytails in place to move it out of the way. Start braiding near the front of the head. Use a comb to part a small piece of the hair. Divide the strands into three sections. Keep the middle strand in its place. Cross the left strand over the middle piece then the right strand. Pick up a little bit of hair on the sides to continue braiding. Do this for the other ponytail to create two french braids.

4. Wear an emo bang with a nice ponytail. Hold scissors diagonally pointing downwards. Cut the hair where it shapes around your face. The bang should be on one side of your face. Flat iron your entire head of hair. Then apply a dime-sized amount of heavy gloss or pomade. Work the gloss through the ends of the hair to add texture. Teenage boys can also wear emo bangs.

Get A Guy Over His Ex

Get a Guy Over His Ex

Just because a relationship has officially ended doesn't mean that romantic feelings are dead. Letting go of them can be difficult, regardless of the length or perceived seriousness of the union. Watching a friend endure the pain of heartbreak can take its toll. Don't let a lovesick pal drown in the self-pity that can easily follow a romantic split. Use encouragement, creativity and persistence to help your friend break free from despair.

Instructions

1. Express your commitment to help him through his heartache. Establishing your role as an attentive listener can make your friend feel valued. Avoid expressing frustration if he meets your initial suggestions with hostility or indifference. Realize that it may take friendly persuasion and persistence to encourage your friend to better his situation.

2. Serve as a liaison between your friend and his ex. Offer to perform any needed services, such as picking up his personal items from her or delivering her things from him. According to the UCLA Center for Men and Women, retrieving the items himself can be too overwhelming for a lovesick guy. It may even make him beg for a second chance or other embarrassing actions. Encourage your friend to end thoughts of forging a friendship with his ex until he's healed.

3. Act as the voice of reason. While it's important to listen to him talk about his feelings, allowing him to wallow in self-pity won't help him get over his ex. Remind him of the bad times he had with her whenever he starts focusing too heavily on the good ones. Meet talk of her being "the only one for him" with the reality that he can meet other girls.

4. Encourage him to leave his room. According to AskMen.com, your friend can benefit from being in the midst of supportive buddies. Let your friend know that moping around the house won't promote happiness or self-growth. Visit places that his ex doesn't frequent, as running into her unexpectedly may prove too much for him to handle. Helping him try new activities can also work wonders for taking his mind off his breakup. Suitable activities include forming a band or joining an athletic team together.

Make Pillow Cases For Children'S Hospitals

Creating and donating a pillow case to a children's hospital is not only a generous gesture, but also an enjoyable craft. You can start this craft with your child or in a classroom to make an educational and charitable activity, as part of a knitting or crafting club or on your own. Before beginning the pillow case, you should consult the hospital you wish to donate to and ask about their need. Hospitals can often provide guidelines for the items they need, the ages of the children and any restrictions they might have. Verifying these criteria is important to ensure that your donation can be accepted.

Instructions

1. Purchase the fabric you will use to construct the pillowcase. Choosing a fabric that is hypoallergenic and, if possible, antimicrobial---like bamboo fiber---will help to ensure your pillowcase is appropriate for sick children.

2. Cut the fabric with your scissors into the appropriate size for a standard sized pillow case. Your pillow case should measure 21 by 32 inches.

3. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise with the finished side (the side you intend to be on the outside of the pillow case) inside.

4. Sew both long ends and one short end of the fabric together with your thread and sewing machine. Leave one short end open for a pillow to be inserted. Turn the fabric inside out so that the finished side is now outside.

5. Fold in a 1/2-inch hem on the open end of the pillow case. Ironing this hem down will make it easier to sew. Sew a straight stitch around the hem of the pillow case to hold it in place.

Get A Temporary Liquor License

Temporary alcohol permits can be obtained through your local government.

Because liquor licenses are granted by local governments in accordance with their state bylaws, it is necessary to check with your city or town to determine the exact requirements for obtaining a temporary liquor license. Most communities grant one-day licenses, particularly for nonprofit fundraising events.

Instructions

Permission to Party

1. Go to the licensing and permit office of your local city hall or town hall and request an application for a temporary liquor license. Many cities and towns now have PDF format license applications that you can also obtain on their websites.

2. Complete the application with all pertinent information, including, but not limited to: name; address; establishment location; corporation name (if applicable); nature of event; and proof of insurance, up-to-date paid taxes and nonprofit status (if applicable).

3. Attend the hearing of the city or town council reviewing the license request. It is not always necessary to attend the meeting, but it is a good idea to be present.

4. Pay the licensing fee and agree to the terms of the license, which include all alcohol-related state regulations such as consumer age restrictions and wholesale purchase requirements. Some cities and towns also set guidelines for hours of operation, facility capacity and acceptable noise level at functions.

5. Await approval from both the governing board of your city or town and the state.

Hook Up My Cable To My Internet Using A Splitter

Use coaxial splitters with a cable modem.

It is always best to use a dedicated coaxial cable outlet for your cable modem so as to provide the strongest cable signal for the most consistent Internet performance. When this isn't possible, sometimes using a coaxial cable splitter is a good alternative. As the name suggests, a splitter takes a coaxial cable signal and splits it between two devices. Using a coaxial cable with your cable Internet modem could not be simpler.

Instructions

1. Connect your coaxial outlet to the splitter. Take the coaxial cable that is coming out of your coaxial wall plate (connect one if there isn't one attached to the wall plate already) and attach it to the coaxial connection on the splitter that is labeled "In" or "Input." Screw it onto the coaxial connection until it is hand-tight.

2. Connect one of the coaxial outputs to your cable modem. Attach the second coaxial cable from one of the coaxial connections on the splitter labeled "out" or "output" and screw it on until it is hand-tight. Attach the other end of that cable to the coaxial connection on your cable modem.

3. Connect the other coaxial output to your TV or other device. In the same manner as described, connect the last coaxial cable from one of the outputs on the splitter to your TV or other device with a coaxial connection.

Make An Electrolyte Replacement Drink

Replacing electrolytes becomes vital whenever you exercise for more than two hours.

Whether you run marathons, practice hot yoga or work outside in the sun, an electrolyte replacement drink will help your body stay hydrated and functioning properly. Electrolytes are chemicals that conduct electricity. Maintaining a proper balance of electrolytes in your blood is essential to maintain your energy levels and normal bodily functions. According to the website Sports Med Info, the principle electrolytes that your body needs are sodium, potassium, chloride and bicarbonate. By following this sports drink recipe, you can save money by mixing your own electrolyte replacement beverage at home.

Instructions

1. Dissolve 2 tablespoons of honey in one cup of warm filtered water. Honey will provide carbohydrates to replace those lost during exercise.

2. Add a quarter teaspoon of salt and stir to dissolve. Salt helps to maintain the fluid balance inside and outside of your cells. When dissolved in water, salt disassociates into a positively charged sodium ion and a negatively charged chloride ion.

3. Squeeze the juice from half an orange into the honey-and-salt solution. According to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, orange juice and grapefruit juice contain high levels of potassium.

4. Pour enough filtered water into your container to bring the volume up to one liter. To make a cold sports drink, add a combination of ice and water.

5. Sip your homemade sports drink throughout your activity to replace electrolytes lost through perspiration.

Help A Child Overcome Reading Difficulties

Help a Child Overcome Reading Difficulties

Helping your child learn to read is one of the greatest gifts a parent can offer.

Instructions

1. Read! Set aside time every day to read with your child whether your child is 5 years old or 15. Read to your child and have your child read to you. Read the same favorite book over again. Point out repeated phrases or words that rhyme and have the same letter patterns. Listen to books on tape. Have books available for your child at all times.

2. Point out words when you are out and about. Make up car games such as asking your child to find the word "stop" as many times as possible. Look for words starting with "br" or "sh" while shopping in the grocery store. Find a word and think of as many words or made-up words that rhyme with it. Read billboards, bumper stickers - anything with printed words is fair game for reading.

3. Show your child the relationships between words. Make lists of words that have the same beginning, ending or vowel combinations. When you child is spelling or reading and has difficulty with a word, refer to the list. Say things like, "That word looks a lot like 'bat.' Try putting a 'c' where the 'b' is;" or, "How do you spell 'duck'? What sound does 'truck' start with?"

4. Teach letter sounds. Make the sound that is associated with a letter. Play guessing games where you make the sound and your child names the letter or letter combinations. For example, "rrrr" = r; "guh" = g. Say simple words, such as "big," and have your child guess the vowel sound in or the beginning or ending of the word. When your child has a problem reading or spelling a word, help your child sound it out or remind your child to sound out the word. Say things like, "What sound starts the word? OK, write that letter;" or, "What letter starts the word? What sound does that letter make?"

5. Look for small words inside bigger words. The word "fantastic" has two small words, "fan" and "tic" in it. Ask your child to find small words, pronounce them and then add the other letter sounds to make the big word.

Have An Elvis Movie Marathon

Known by many as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley has been a big name in the music industry since the 1950's. However, it is often overlooked and forgotten that from 1956 until 1969 Elvis was also the star in 31 motion pictures. While many were regarded as trite and similar to all his others, Elvis' acting career can be appreciated through a movie marathon that showcases his best-known and well-played roles. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Watch Love Me Tender, the 1956 film that started Elvis' movie career. Elvis plays Clint Reno, the Reno brother who stayed home while brother Vance fought in the Civil War for the Confederate army. Conflicts arise when Vance comes home from the war and finds that Clint is married to his old girlfriend Cathy. Elvis' song "Love Me Tender" is performed during the film.

2. Watch Jailhouse Rock, the 1957 film that stars Elvis as felon-turned-rockstar Vince Everett who is in danger of forgetting the little people that helped him become an overnight rock sensation. "Jailhouse Rock," one of Elvis' well-known blockbuster hits, is performed during the film.

3. Watch G.I. Blues, one of the Elvis films of 1960 that was received a bit better than some of the others. Elvis stars as G.I. Tulsa McLean, who bets his friends that Sergent "Dynamite" Bixby will successfully seduce and spend the night with cabaret dancer Lili (who is deemed "untouchable"). When Dynamite is transferred, Tulsa replaces him in the bet--and winds up falling in love with Lili, causing him to attempt to call the whole bet off.

4. Watch Blue Hawaii, a 1961 Elvis film that is set right in Hawaii (one of Elvis' favorite vacation spots). Elvis stars as Chad Gates, a man just released from the Army and thrilled to be back in Hawaii among his family and friends. His father wants him to work at a fruit company, but Chad chooses instead to work at his girlfriend's agency as a tour guide.

5. Watch Viva Las Vegas, the 1964 movie starring both Elvis Presley and big-name co-star Ann Margaret. Elvis portrays race car driver Lucky Jackson, who goes to Las Vegas with hopes to make enough dough to pay for a new engine for his car. Lucky takes on a job as a waiter to make some cash, and spends time romancing Rusty Martin (Ann Margaret). Both Elvis and Ann Margaret sing a multitude of solos and duets throughout the film. This is arguably the best and most well-known Elvis movie of Elvis' career.

6. Watch Paradise Hawaiian Style, the 1966 film that brought Elvis back to his favorite island of Hawaii. He stars as Rick Richards, a helicopter pilot who starts up a harter flying service in Hawaii. Join Rick as he tries to balance flying, friends and all the girls he meets.

7. Watch Speedway, the 1968 film that puts Nancy Sinatra as Elvis' female co-star. This time, Elvis is Steve Grayson, a stock car driver with a huge debt in back taxes that hinders his competitive racing.

Forget An Impossible Crush

Forgetting about someone you've had your heart set on can be a challenging task. You need to realize that you deserve someone who adores and appreciates you as much as you do her. You can get over that impossible crush. Evaluating the good and the bad about your crush can make the time you've spent dreaming productive and set you up for future success.

Instructions

1. Remove all pictures, videos and memorabilia that you've collected or that even remind you of the other person. Chances are you've stored up a ton of things during your infatuation. Letting go of the physical clutter you've amassed is a good step toward forgetting him altogether.

2. Quit calling, texting, emailing, IMing and any other form of communication completely. Stop planning run-ins or scheming about see her.

3. Delete him from your networking accounts, like MySpace and Facebook, and at least take him off of speed dial on your phone. If your crush doesn't even know you, delete his number from your phone, as well. Attachment without at least a real friendship requires drastic measures.

4. Evaluate why you were attracted to this person. Make a list of her pros and cons. Be very specific. Include on the "cons" side that she wasn't interested in you. Keep the list of good qualities as you move on to meeting new people.

5. Resolve to have a healthy relationship that's based on mutual attraction and respect.

Fix Pigeontoed Horses

Many horses are slightly pigeon-toed.

Pigeon-toed -- or "toed in" -- horses have front feet that point slightly inward toward each other. The condition is extremely common and can be due to genetics or hoof health. Genetically pigeon-toed horses cannot be cured after the age of 12 months, as their bones are too hard. While the condition does not cause problems in the majority of horses, a horse that is pigeon-toed due to problems with uneven foot growth can be helped with trimming. Trimming relieves uneven stress on the horse's joints; however, remedial trimming of a foot should only undertaken under a farrier's advice, as incorrect trimming will unbalance the foot and exaggerate any problems.

Instructions

1. Tie your horse up securely and stand at its left shoulder, facing the tail. Run your hand down the back of the left foreleg and gently lean your weight against the shoulder until the horse picks up the leg.

2. Hold the leg by the cannon bone (shin) and gently flex the foot upward toward the cannon bone. If the foot is more or less in line with the cannon, the horse is not severely pigeon-toed and can be helped with trimming. If the foot falls toward the inside of the cannon bone, the condition is severe or genetic and should only be approached by an expert.

3. Pick up the leg again and examine the foot carefully. A pigeon-toed horse will have uneven wear on its feet, with the outside of the hoof worn more than the inside. The aim is to have the foot looking even and symmetrical. Identify any uneven areas of wear or places where the wall of the hoof looks thicker than the rest.

4. Stand facing the horse's tail. Pick up the left foreleg again and tuck it between your legs from behind, resting it on your right thigh. Use the rasp to remove any ridges from the outside edge of the hoof, working with firm, even strokes. Reducing the height of the outside edges will cause the horse to roll its weight onto the outside.

5. Discuss specialist shoeing with your farrier. Pigeon-toed horses are often fitted with remedial shoes to encourage them to redistribute their weight, but these shoes should only be fitted by an expert. The process of curing a pigeon-toed horse will take months or even years, but the feet should be trimmed often and kept flat and even to encourage recovery.

Lose Weight At The Gym

Get in the gym regularly!

Obesity is on the rise. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 33.3 percent of men, 35.3 percent of women and 16.3 percent of children in the U.S. are obese as of 2008. This means that weight related diseases such as diabetes also are on the rise. One way to combat obesity is to get active. Join a gym to lose weight and reduce your chances of serious health conditions.

Instructions

1. Go regularly. The best way to ensure weight loss when going to the gym is to form a regular routine. Weight loss requires steady, consistent commitment to an exercise routine. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, children should do 1 hour or more of physical activity each week, and adults age 18 to 64 should do 2 1/2 hours of moderate-intensity activity and 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous activity a week. Older adults should follow the adult guidelines if possible. If not physically able to do that much, they should do what they can, but always remain active.

2. Form a strength training schedule. Two or more days a week of strength training is advised for optimal health. You need to work different muscle groups on different days to avoid injury. Working the same muscles two days in a row can cause pain and damage to muscle tissue. Strength training will promote weight loss. A 150-lb. woman who lifts free weights at the gym for 20 minutes will burn 143 calories. The longer you exercise, and the more intense the workout, the more calories you will burn. To see how many calories you would burn at your specific weight, doing particular exercises, click the link in the Resources section to Bodybuilding.com.

3. Do cardio, or aerobic, activity to lose weight at the gym. Cardio workouts offer great calorie burning potential, improve heart health, and even cause endorphins to be released in the brain that combat depression. You will lose weight if you do regular cardio workouts. A 150-lb. woman can burn up to 298 calories in 20 minutes using a stationary bike at the gym. She can use 191 calories doing circuit training and 214 doing the treadmill or stair stepper for 20 minutes.

4. Combine strength training and aerobic workouts for maximum weight loss benefits when going to the gym. Doing both types of workouts allows for weight loss, improved cardiovascular health and muscle growth. You can lose weight at the gym if you put the required effort into it.

Go From Swimming To Biking In A Triathlon

Efficient transitioning from water to bike makes all the difference in a successful triathlon.

Transitions are a vital part of triathlons, yet many triathletes don't put much thought into them. A speedy, efficient and well-managed transition can save you minutes or even seconds, giving you an edge over slower racers. While they're still struggling to get out of their wetsuits or put their biking shoes on, you can be out ahead of the pack, starting the next portion of the race. It's all a matter of forethought, preparation and planning.

Instructions

1. Make plans before the race even begins. That means arrive early, scope out the course, put your bike on a rack and arrange your gear so it's easily accessible. Put your helmet on your handlebars, attach your bike shoes to the pedals, tape gel fuel to the handlebars and trace the path that you'll take from the water to the bike. This planning will shave seconds off your time.

2. Kick your feet with short, sharp strokes as you near the end of the swim, to let blood start flowing through your legs. When getting out of the water, run in quick, short steps up to your bike. You need to get your legs accustomed to being out of the water as quickly as possible.

3. Peel off your wetsuit as you run to your bike. Don't stop to take it off, since that will take time you don't have. Take off the top portion first, and then as you near your bike, take off the legs. You'll want to have your biking outfit and bib number on under your wetsuit so you don't need to change clothes. Put on and latch your helmet once you're at your bike.

4. Run, barefoot, with your bike toward the bike mounting area. Push your bike by holding the saddle, not the handlebars. For the quickest mount, move one hand at a time to the handlebars, and swing your leg over the saddle. While riding, slide your feet, one at a time, into the biking shoes attached to your pedals. Try to keep up your speed during this time as much as possible, and by the time you have your shoes on, you'll be well into the biking part of the race.

Keep Your Eye Makeup From Running

Pencil eyeliner won't run.

A number of things can cause eye makeup to run. A rainy day or an especially hot summer's day can affect your eye makeup, or you may want to swim or participate in water sports without eye makeup running. And, of course, the only thing worse than crying is having makeup run down your face at the same time. Eyeliner tends to be the most troublesome but mascara and eye shadow can run occasionally too. There are several ways to prevent your eye makeup from running. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Purchase and use high quality eyeliner. Drugstore eyeliner may be cheap but the quality means it tends to run more often in a variety of conditions.

2. Use waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara is essential to keeping your eye makeup from running.

3. Use eyeliners in pencil form if you are applying the liner heavily. Liquid liner has a tendency to run more often. Pencil eyeliners can also be found in waterproof form, further preventing runny eye makeup.

4. Start with a primer. Primers help to hold any makeup, including eye makeup, on your skin so it doesn't run when wet. You can also purchase primer designed specifically for eye makeup through many department stores or online.

Listen To Music While Jogging

An iPod is a common accessory for joggers.

Listening to music while jogging can make exercising more enjoyable, and can also help inspire you to push harder. If you run on a regular basis, or don't particularly enjoy it but do it for fitness, you may find jogging somewhat boring. With a music source such as a small portable MP3 player, you can listen to a vast selection of music to help make your runs less monotonous. Listening to music while jogging is a simple, easy task that's enjoyable to do.

Instructions

1. Purchase an MP3 player, such as an iPod Nano to use while running. While more dated devices such as a Walkman or portable CD player are also adequate for running, they're more bulky, prone to skipping and are limited by the tape or CD length. An iPod Nano, on the other hand, can carry as much as 1,000 songs and is so lightweight it won't slow you down or be a nuisance.

2. Load the MP3 player with your favorite music for running by creating a playlist. To obtain the music to load onto your device, you can either download it or import it from CDs. If you are using an iPod touch, you can access the iTunes Store directly through the device's Wi-Fi connection.

3. Buy an MP3 holder that straps to your arms. These holders are common and can be found in electronics stores and some drug stores. These are useful because they keep your hands free but also keep the MP3 player within easy reach if you want to change the song or adjust the volume.

4. Strap the MP3 holder to your arm and thread the headphones cable underneath your shirt and up to your ears. Although you can run with the headphones cable dangling in front of you, you'll occasionally catch it with one hand and rip the headphones from your ears. As such, it's ideal to keep it safe underneath your clothing.

Get A Job With A Seismic Oil Exploration Company

A Doodlebugger Truck Or Seismic Survey Thumper Truck

Oil companies use information from seismic surveys to know where to drill for oil. Here are some tips on get a job working for a seismic survey company.

Instructions

1. The first step to getting a job in seismic oil exploration is to learn as much as you can about how the process is done and to determine where you skills fit into the industry. Seismic surveyors, also known as "Doodlebuggers" work both on land and at sea to survey for oil and gas using sound waves sent from the surface. A doodlebugger truck, as seen above, gets it's name from the insect known as a doodlebug or ant lion. Doodlebugs vibrate the soil and flick out sand to make traps for ants and in a similar way the seismic survey vehicle shakes the earth with a giant vibration pad that the vehicle props itself up on. Since these large vehicles require skilled operators you should consider getting a CDL or commercial drivers license before applying to a seismic oil exploration company. I addition to vehicle operators, seismic survey companies hire tractor operators to blade paths across farms and ranches to lay cable on. These temporary cables require hours to set up. Field technicians may perform a variety of duties including all of those above. For these type of jobs you should have some electronics background, as well as be in good physical shape.

2. Consider a seismograph equipment operator job. Seismic technicians who work for oil exploration companies frequently have degrees in Geoscience, geology, Phyiscs and advanced electronics. The highest paid jobs in the field usually require a college degree since seismic equipment is complex and must be operated properly. Millions of dollars worth of oil and gas, and the cost of the survey are at stake so technicians are required to be highly trained. Take courses in any of the above fields and try to find summer and after college work as an apprentice operating seismic survey equipment.

3. Once you have determined which part of the seismic oil and gas exploration industry you fit into, take the required training courses such as CDL or finish college with a degree in the geosciences. Apply to companies such as Western Geco, one of the largest seismic companies. Check sites like Monster.com for openings and look in the classified section in oil and gas producing parts of the country for seismic company job postings. Be prepared to spend weeks away from home and live in a motel for most of the jobs. Seismic oil and gas surveying is usually done in distant parts of the country and in all type of weather. Be prepared with good safety approved footwear and clothing for all climates once you are hired.

Get A Faster 100meter Dash Time

Achieving maximum speed in sprinting is predicated upon precise techniques, stride frequency, and stride length. Although all are essential components for improving speed in a 100-meter dash, stride frequency, or how many times a complete stride is executed, has the greatest impact on maximum velocity. However, focus should be on improving aspects of all three components by incorporating various training methods to eliminate wasteful movements and shave crucial seconds off of the 100-meter time.

Instructions

1. Place hands exactly shoulder width apart at setup. Having the hands too far apart reduces the acceleration-generating potential needed at the start. Adjust your hip height so that a 90-degree angle is maintained in the front leg while you are down in the stance. Raise your hips more upward than forward. Excessive forward leaning improperly distributes weight onto the arms. Maintain normal head alignment. Avoid hyperextending the neck by attempting to look too far in front of you.

2. Increase your rear leg push-off force to avoid premature upright posture. Keep the forward lean of the trunk and the eyes still focused on the ground to prevent lifting of the head. Train incorporating sprinting with hopping, sprinting with jumping and sprinting with bouncing to work the ankle joint in forward movement. This will improve rear-leg extension at push-off by increasing power. Avoid vertical bouncing when running. Mark off intervals of 10 meters up to 50 meters, and work on form and technique through those shorter distances. Improve time at each interval before moving on to the next.

3. Incorporate assisted sprinting training methods. Assisted sprinting is used to increase stride frequency. Methods for this type of training include sprinting that is gravity assisted. For example, run on a slight downgrade, which will force you to exceed your typical maximum speed. Or use a harness and stretch cord. Stand in a ready-to-run stance with your back facing a training partner. The partner, who is attached to you by way of the stretch cord, will sprint and speed past you. The generated speed will force you to accelerate quickly and generate maximum speed in a shorter period of time.

4. Switch to resisted sprinting training methods to increase stride length. Slight-upgrade and up-stair running are methods used in this endeavor. Use the harness and stretch cord in this method also. Switch positions with the training partner now standing ahead of you and facing away. Begin to run past the partner, pulling him or her along for some distance. Another effective but slightly more expensive option is the parachute sprint. Attach the parachute apparatus to the body, and begin to sprint until the parachute opens due to wind shear, offering you maximum resistance.

Improve Circulation With Socks

Poor circulation in the feet and legs arises from a group of conditions called peripheral vascular disease. According to ePodiatry, peripheral vascular disease is most commonly caused by atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), which causes the walls of the veins and arteries to harden and restricts blood flow to the extremities. Poor circulation in the lower extremities can also be caused by decreased mobility. Socks can help improve circulation in your feet in several ways..

Instructions

1. Avoid wearing socks with tight-fitting plastic bands, choose socks with loose-fitting bands instead. Wearing tight socks can constrict blood flow to the feet and make your circulation worse.

2. Wear socks when your feet are cold, especially during the winter. Poor circulation can make your feet feel cold, but wearing socks to keep them warm during the day and while in bed helps to keep them warmer. When your feet are warm the blood flows more easily, which can improve the circulation to your feet.

3. Compression stockings can be a great tool in improving poor foot and leg circulation but it is important to consult your doctor to ensure you get the right size for you.

Consult your doctor about whether or not compression stockings would be helpful for you. According to VEIN directory, compression stockings are made of a of a strong material and are graduated from the foot up to the knee or thigh, being tighter at the foot and loosening as they move up the leg. The compression stockings put a squeezing pressure on the leg muscles. The pressure encourages the blood to flow back up to the heart and helps improve circulation.

4. Purchase compression stockings based on the type, grade and size recommended by your doctor. They come in many different brands, styles and colors.

5. Wear your compression stockings during the day as prescribed by your doctor, but remove them at night. Since your feet are elevated while you are in bed, it is not necessary to wear the compression stockings, and you can let your feet breathe and rest without restriction.

6. Wear your compression stockings while exercising and while working if you are required to be on your feet a lot during your shift. Prolonged standing can cause the feet to swell more which can restrict your blood flow more. Wearing the compression stockings during physical activity will help keep the blood flowing in your extremities and help to keep the swelling down.

Make A Champion Runner

It takes patience, dedication and hard work to become a champion runner.

Becoming a champion runner requires dedication, practice and self-discipline on top of natural ability and speed. To shave time off your running pace, it's essential to have an unwavering dedication to proper nutrition, exercise and technique is essential. Though the task is challenging, the payoff is tremendous. With the proper tools and mental attitude, virtually all recreational runners can take their running goals and achievements to the next level.

Instructions

Setting Goals

1. Research the most common race distances offered in upcoming races near you. Decide which race distance provides the best fit for your ability. Shorter races cater to sprinters, while longer races are designed for endurance. Certain body types are better at certain race distances, too.

2. Decide which style of running fits best with the race length you want to concentrate on. For example, 5k races are the shortest and most popular, as they cater to faster running, while 10ks, half-marathons and marathons cater to runners who can maintain speed over long distances. By focusing on mastering a specific distance of race, runners can tailor training plans to hit specific time requirements.

3. Research upcoming races of the chosen distance, as training with specific goals in mind can help create benchmarks. When training to become a faster, more efficient runner, setting deadline-oriented performance goals is essential.

Preparing for Training

4. Monitor your current benchmarks by tracking average finishing time, pace per mile, and endurance level (general feeling of wellness or soreness post-run). Consider reasonable target times based on current "Personal Bests" compared to the average finishing times for top-ten race finishers in races in your area.

5. Research available training plans. Most plans require runners to log no less than 20 miles per week to see gains in speed and endurance. Pick a plan that caters to the selected race distance and speed goals.

6. Establish a running diary that will keep track of workouts, distances, finishing times, pace-per-mile and mental outlook post-run. Keeping a detailed record of workouts will help monitor progress, point out weaknesses and provide encouragement to stay on-track and not skip workouts.

7. Use proper running shoes for training. Different race distances can call for different types of shoes. Short races need less-cushioned shoes and longer distances require additional cushioning.

Making the Most out of Training

8. Build speed and sprinting ability by running "intervals," which call for short bursts of speed followed by recovery jogging. Intervals activate special muscle groups and fast-twitch muscle fibers, allowing runners to feel comfortable running short bursts of speed over increasing distances.

9. Build endurance-minded long-twitch muscle groups by running slow "tempo runs." Tempo runs call for running at a particular pace over an extended distance, which requires muscle groups to work at near-maximum exertion for long periods of time.

10. Cross-train during non-running days within your workout schedule. By cross-training, runners can focus on ancillary muscle groups that play a pivotal role in core strength. Focus on abdominal, back, shoulder, chest and arm strength to promote good posture and overall fitness.

11. Include fartleks within a running plan, as this Swedish technique (fartlek meaning "speed play" in Swedish) promotes short sprinting sessions during long runs. By running fartleks, runners can experience the physical differences between sprinting and endurance running by alternating between the two at will.

Improving Form to Increase Speed

12. Boost speed by running in an efficient and consistent stride. Efficient runners take about 180 strides per minute, promoting fast foot turnover and more natural pacing.

13. After a stride, land toward the mid-foot or foot arch to prevent knee and ankle injury. By assuming a mid-foot strike, runners can better absorb the gravitational pressure experienced while running. Slow down if transitioning from a heel strike to a mid-foot strike, as muscle groups will need time to respond to the new stride.

14. Find a comfortable and natural running gait that fits your style and the demands of your chosen race distance. Determine comfortable leg placement, foot fall, and posture while running to focus on running faster and more efficiently.

Make Low Carb Pizza

Pizza comes in hundreds of delicious varieties, and nearly all can be turned into low carb pies.

It is hard to imagine giving up pizza, even for a diet that works wonders and keeps the pounds off. That is just what low carb dieters have been doing, however. Pizza crust is a type of bread that is high in carbs and most pizza sauces have a lot of sugar in them. As a result, traditional pizza recipes are off the list for low carb dieters. Fortunately, there are ways to make pizza fit the low carb mold. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Spray a round pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray. This will help prevent your low carb crust from sticking even though it is not a traditional pizza dough.

3. Stir together all of the crust ingredients in a large bowl. Use a spoon rather than a mixer so the dry ingredients do not fly out of the bowl. They will make a smooth, thick batter.

4. Spread the crust batter evenly across the pizza pan. It should make a thin crust. If necessary, save part of the batter to make a second pizza.

5. Bake the crust for 12 to 15 minutes. When it is done it should be golden brown and firm to the touch.

6. Heat olive oil, onions and garlic in a saucepan. When the onions are done, they will be tender and translucent. Once you see this change happen, move on to the next step.

7. Add remaining sauce ingredients and simmer for 2 minutes. You can simmer the sauce longer if you prefer your tomatoes and other vegetables softer and more tender. Be sure to stir occasionally so that the sauce does not stick to the pan.

8. Spread the sauce evenly across the crust. Create a thin, even layer for crisp, thin pizza or add more sauce for a juicier slice.

9. Sprinkle a hearty amount of cheese on top of the sauce. Mozzarella cheese has very few carbs, so put on as much as you like.

10. Distribute the rest of the toppings however you prefer them. Some low carb dieters prefer to just eat the toppings off the pizza, but with this recipe you can enjoy the real thing.

11. Bake the pizza for another 10 to 12 minutes. When they are done the cheese will start to melt and brown.

12. Slice and enjoy! You will not have to feel guilty because this pizza has only 8 carbs per serving.

Get Shingles Pain Relief

The skin disease shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. The disease causes a painful and itchy skin rash that leads to blisters, which develop a crust and then break off. The rash typically occurs around the spine, chest, back and sometimes on the face. While a cure does not exist for shingles, some medications and home treatments may help reduce your pain.

Initial Pain Relief and Treatment

When your doctor diagnoses you with shingles, she will most likely prescribe antiviral medications such as famciclovir or acyclovir to reduce the duration of the outbreak. The antiviral regiment will reduce not only the length but also the intensity of the painful outbreak. The sooner you start on the medications, the better chance you have of preventing complications, which are common and can be much more painful than the initial shingles outbreak. Most doctors recommend starting treatment within three days of the initial outbreak to lower the chance of suffering other conditions.

After the Antiviral Medications

While the antiviral medications are meant to decrease the duration of the outbreak and prevent future painful complications, you can take some medications, both prescribed by a doctor and over-the-counter, that will reduce your pain and discomfort during the shingles outbreak. Over-the-counter medications, such as ibuprofen, aspirin and acetaminophen, effectively reduce the pain caused by a shingles outbreak. In addition, your doctor may recommend antidepressants or topical creams that you apply directly to the infected area to help combat your pain, or she may write you a prescription for antibiotic creams.

At Home Treatment

A few at home remedies and practices may help ease your pain during a breakout. Try to refrain from scratching and picking at the scabs, so your skin may heal more rapidly. The blisters will develop a crust and fall off on their own, which will lead to a shortened outbreak. If your shingles are itchy or painful, apply pressure to the area for a few minutes with a cloth soaked in cold water. Repeat this process if it succeeds in lessening your discomfort. Afterward, you can apply a lotion - preferably a calamine lotion - to the area to reduce irritation. Finally, try easing your pain by soaking the infected area in water.

Pain Relief for Complications from Shingles

While shingles are quite painful on their own, poor treatment or other complications from the disease will lead to even more painful skin conditions. If you still have pain a month after the rash heals, it is a sign of complications. The most common complication is postherpetic neuralgia, which lasts months or even years after your shingles outbreak. If this is the case, your doctor will prescribe a medication such as anticonvulsants, opids or antidepressants to treat the pain. You may have continued sight or hearing complications from shingles, which will require medical attention.

Get A Flat Stomach

Get a flat tummy!

We all know you need diet and exercise to whittle away the fat on your stomach, but this article has a few different tips on ways to help flatten your tummy that you may not have previously heard of.

Instructions

1. Consume the smallest amount of sugar possible.

Sugar bloats your stomach. Consuming sugar will absolutely not help you get a flat tummy. While it is impossible to totally eliminate sugar from your diet, just try to consume the least amount possible.

2. Watch how often you're chewing gum.

When you're chewing gum, you are likely to swallow MORE air which will make your stomach bloat and hide your abdominals.

3. Get plenty of fiber.

Try to consume at least 25-35 grams of fiber each day. Fiber prevents constipation which will also bloat your belly. Fiber keeps things moving. Many types of beans and berries have a lot of fiber in them. There are a number of fiber supplements you could take as well.

4. Drink ice cold water.

Water contains zero calories and will fill you up. If you drink ice cold water, you'll burn even more fat because your body will have to work to warm up that water once it's in your system.

5. Obliques Exercise.

Barbell twists are an excellent waist slimmer exercise. All you need is a barbell or 2 dumbbells. You could even use a broom if you don't have those things readily available. You simply stand up straight, hold the bar or dumbbells in your hands and twist from side to side (left to right). You can adjust the weight as necessary to suit your individual needs. Try doing 1 set of 50 repetitions - you'll really feel it in your abs the next day! You don't need a lot of weight to do these or you could injure your spine.

6. Upper Abs Exercise.

Simply lie flat on the floor and place your legs up on a chair so that your legs are parallel (thighs perpendicular) to the floor. Keeping your legs raised this way assures that your upper abs are doing most of the work, and not your legs or back. Try to complete at least 3 sets of crunches with 12 repetitions each.

7. Lower Abs Exercise.

Decline (or incline) reverse crunches rule the world! They are an awesome way to tone up your lower abs which is the hardest area of the tummy to tone. These are amazing. Simply do 3 sets of this exercise to failure. Meaning, do one set until you can't do anymore, rest for 60 seconds, do your next set until you can't do anymore...etc.

To perform these, you simply lay on the bench with your feet towards the floor. Grab the bench with your hands and hang onto the bench right above your head. Lift your hips up at least 30 degrees and then slowly lower back down. You will really be able to feel your lower abdominal muscles working and I guarantee that this exercise will make you sweat!

8. Eat right.

You need to remain on a healthy, low sugar diet to see those abdominal muscles. Otherwise you could do all the exercises in the world, but if your diet is loaded with unhealthy choices, like sugars and excess calories, you'll never see your abdominals.

Host A Pre Game Football Dinner

Feeding a Hungry Football Team is Like Feeding an Entire Army

In many towns, especially towns in areas that are big on football, there exists a die-hard tradition of the pre-game football dinner. These dinners are usually hosted by the parents of a player on the team, generally a player at the varsity level who is normally a senior. These pre-game football dinners, which are held the night before each gameday, are a way for the team to bond together and to make sure that everyone gets proper nutrition the night before a big game. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Approach your team's coach during the off-season and let them know you'd like to host a pre-game football dinner for the team. It's best to do this well in advance because there may be a lot of competition to host the team dinners.

2. Decide what you want to serve. Since you'll be serving a minimum of 30 or so people, with some football teams ranging up into the 70s, 80s or even 90s, pick something that you can afford and that won't be too terribly difficult to produce.

3. Plan large portion sizes. Remember, teenage boys can often eat two to three times as much in one meal what a grown man would eat in a day. Combine that with the fact that football players are exercising each day for three to five hours and you've got a recipe for some hungry teens. Make sure that you plan to have more food than you expect to require.

4. Set up the logistics of the pre-game dinner well in advance and think them out thoroughly. The easiest thing to do when you're hosting such a large-scale event is to forget something simple like seating, silverware, napkins or the chance of inclement weather. Such mistakes will only be worsened and exacerbated if you wait until the last minute to set the dinner up.

5. Host the dinner with a relaxed attitude. Remember, if you have 30 to 90 teenage boys running around in your house or backyard, there's a good chance that something may get broken, stained or generally dirty. This all comes with the territory. As long as things aren't getting out of hand, just relax. Since the coaches of the football team are present, the players should all remain respectful and relatively calm.

1. Get a medium-to-long cut (no longer than shoulder length). If your hair is medium length rather than long, leave the hair longer on the top and sides. Have your stylist add some layers to shape the hair to your head.

2. Style your sideburns down to the ear lobe, and either clean shave the rest of your facial hair or allow short stubble all around for a more rugged look.

3. Add a light gel to wet hair and blow dry it back from the face using a round brush to have a looser, wavy look. For a curly look, simply apply a curling gel and let it air dry.

4. Use foaming pomade on your hair once it's dry to shape the hair and separate the locks. Curl individual locks of hair around your finger and shape them with hair product. Then, pull your hair in the front up and back away from your face.

5. Shape your hair back on the top and sides rather than parting it. If your hair is longer and has a part, part it with your fingers rather than a comb and hide the part with pieces in the front swept back and over the part.

Have A Successful Garage Sale

Many people have garage sales throughout the year. Here you can learn organize your garage sale and be successful at it. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Gather Your Items-

To have a garage sale you need to have items to sell. We all have things stored that we haven't used or seen in a long time. A general rule is that if you haven't used the item in 2+ years then you should get rid of it. If you don't have enough items then see if people on your street or family members would like to do a group garage sale.

2. Create Signs & Pricing Posters-

Make all your signs the same so that customers will be able to tell that it's your garage sale sign they're following. Place them on street poles with arrows pointing the direction (if it's legal to do so in your town). Also, instead of pricing each individual item, have like items together and put up one poster stating the price. Example: Hardcover Books-$$, Paperback Books-$$, etc. Then just have a price guide with you at the register. This will save you money on supplies.

3. Put an ad in your local paper-

Often times your town will have a city-wide garage sale. This is the best time to have your garage sale since everyone will be out and about and more likely to visit. However, you can be successful at other times of the year of you place an ad in the paper. The cost of your ad will depend on how many letters/characters you have. So choose your words wisely and pick out the items you have the most of or items that you think will sell the best to put in your ad. Be sure to include the date, time, and address of your garage sale.

4. Have your garage sale-

Have someone there to help you in case you have to go to the bathroom or get something to eat. Otherwise your garage sale is open to stealing if you leave even for one second. Be sure to have plastic bags for people to put their items in & enough change in your cash drawer so that you won't be constantly running to get more change. Smile, try to be friendly, and be prepared to haggle. If you're friendly, helpful, and convincing, then people will be more likely to buy. Enjoy your garage sale!

Lift Weights After A Run To Lose Weight

Lifting weights after running can improve endurance.

Lifting weights after cardio activity is an effective way to improve your overall fitness level. Weightlifting will also help exercise muscles that are not used during a running routine, for instance, improving your chances of sculpting a leaner body. Additionally, building strength through weightlifting will help you expand endurance, allowing you to run for greater distances and burn more calories. To burn as much fat as possible, you will need to ensure that you are lifting weights properly.

Instructions

1. Create a weightlifting routine tailored to your running workout. If you are a competitive runner, for instance, you should perform a light set of upper body exercises in 12 to 15 repetitions. Exercises such as the dumbbell shoulder press, barbell bench press, barbell incline press and dumbbell shoulder raises are effective exercises. If you're looking to improve your overall fitness, on the other hand, you will benefit from lifts that utilize your entire body -- such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, pull ups and dips.

2. Replenish your body after a run. Drink water and eat a light snack such as fruit to restore hydration and energy lost during a run.

3. Use proper technique when lifting. Weightlifting the proper amount of weights will help you complete your workout, as well as build strength safely. You should be able to lift your weights for 12 to 15 repetitions comfortably. Additionally, using proper form will ensure you are getting maximum benefits from your workout. Seek help from a professional trainer to help you establish proper form if you are unsure.

Make Diecut Stickers

Die-cut stickers are a wonderful and decorative tool for scrapbookers, card makers and even for those creating posters for school projects. Die-cut stickers also make great gifts for younger children who love to stick stickers everywhere. They can be made in almost every shape imaginable, and are much less expensive to make at home than they are to buy in craft stores.

Instructions

1. Cover the back of a piece of decorative paper with double-sided carpet tape, leaving the protective paper on the other side of the tape.

2. Adhere your paper to your cutting mat, with the tape side down.

3. Place the desired cartridge in your Cricut and the key overlay on the keypad of your Cricut. Turn on the Cricut.

4. Select the design that you want to cut using the key overlay, also selecting any special features that you want to use to make the cut.

5. Set the Cricut blade on Depth 5 to ensure that it cuts through the paper and tape. Set the speed and pressure to the appropriate settings for the design you chose. It may be beneficial to do a test run on a regular piece of paper to determine the best speed and pressure settings before attempting to cut your stickers.

6. Load your cutting mat with the paper attached to it into the Cricut machine, move the blade to the top right-hand corner of the paper, set the paper size and then press "Cut.".

7. Unload the paper from the machine once it has finished the cut and remove your sticker from the mat using the Cricut spatula.
