Make A Janitor Uniform Costume

With jangling keys and mop, a janitor makes a fun costume for children. Creating a janitor costume relies on easy-to-get pieces and articles of clothing, making it a great option for a last-minute Halloween look or a cheap costume. By putting together a janitor costume, children are bound to have fun and look great while saving money and avoiding the stress of creating a more elaborate costume.

1. Put on a button-up shirt. While any standard color shirt will look fine, a pale blue or white shirt will look the most like a janitor.

2. Step into some navy blue dress pants or work pants. Hold up the pants by strapping on some red suspenders.

3. For footwear, slip on some black or dark brown shoes. While not as professional, sneakers are another suitable alternative.

Make A Home Remedy For Diarrhea In Cats

Just like humans, cats can have diarrhea. And just as with humans, a bout of diarrhea that lasts longer than 24 hours can be dangerous to a cat's health and cause more problems. But vet bills will add up quickly if you run your cat to the doctor every time he has a little diarrhea. That's why it might make sense for you try to treat him on your own first.

Instructions

1. Change the cat's diet. Take away any food that has dyes and other added or artificial ingredients. These added elements are harder for the cat's body to digest. You want to make it as easy for her to digest as possible. Avoid all dairy; so if your cat is used to a saucer of milk, don't give her any more. Make some plain white rice and boil hamburger meat or chicken with no seasoning on it. Cut up the meat and mix it in the rice. This food is easily digested and should help regulate the cat's system.

2. Give your cat lots of water. Diarrhea causes dehydration, so make sure your pet continues to lap up the water. You can even give him electrolyte-enhanced waters such as Propel, which will help replenish what he's lost. Avoid sports drinks like Gatorade, because they often contain artificial sweeteners and coloring, which are more difficult to process.

3. Have your cat fast if the new diet hasn't seemed to help after 24 hours, or has made things worse. Still provide lots of water, but give the cat no food. Also make sure to tuck and lock away all potential food sources that your cat may scavenge in. This includes pantries, garbage cans, other animals' food bowls and kitchen counters. Out of hunger, your cat could potentially eat something that will just make the situation worse.

4. Give your cat half a teaspoon of Metamucil. A bulk-forming laxative has a positive effect on cats with diarrhea. Just add half a teaspoon to each meal of rice and meat, and her system should quickly turn around and become regular again.

5. As with all living organisms, make sure your cat rests. Rest will allow his body to heal. Remove your cat from any potentially stressful situations and make it comfortable for him to simply relax. With some time, your cat should be up and running around like always. Again, cats are just like people: Sometimes they don't feel good and just need some tender love and care.

Make A Golf Brochure

Make a Golf Brochure

An attractive golf brochure can be a difference-maker in producing revenue for your golf club. If a golfer has a choice of several local clubs where he has not previously played, she may end up choosing the course with the best brochure. Attractive pictures and information that allow the golfer to make an informed choice on where to play are an effective advertising tool and can end up generating more business for any golf course.

Instructions

1. Load your brochure with photos of the most attractive holes on your golf course. If all other factors are equal, a golfer may choose a course based on how the appearance of the holes. Use photos (with people in the photos -- always a good idea) and explanations of the most attractive and fun-to-play spots on the course in your brochure.

2. Inform the brochure's readers of all the costs associated with playing your course. Most golf courses have different rates based on the time of day and the day of the week. List all of the rate parameters so potential golfers will know how much their round of golf will cost. Make sure you list all costs, including the cost of cart rentals, in your brochure.

3. List the club pros and when they are available for group and private lessons. Golfers who are interested in improving their game may want to take lessons. Providing them with the names (and photos) of your pros and their specialties will help drum up business for the club.

4. Inform the readers about your locker room facilities, and include some photos of these as well. Golfers playing 18 holes in the heat of summer will want to retire to the locker room in order to take a shower, a sauna and/or a steam bath after their round to freshen up. If you have attractive locker room facilities, this will help draw golfers to your club.

5. Include any discount coupons your club may offer in order to entice golfers. Your club may have a half price Tuesday or a $10 off twilight coupon. This could be the difference in choosing your club over the competition.

6. Include the basic facts about your club... contact information (including your web address), location, directions to the club, the layout of your course(s), length and par of your course(s), in short, anything a golfer might want to know.

Host A Monopoly Tournament For Charity

Pass go, collect $200.00 and give it all to your favorite charity.

Tired of going door-to-door selling chocolate bars to raise money for your favorite charity? Consider hosting an official Monopoly tournament. By following a few simple guidelines, obtaining Hasbro's permission and gathering at least 24 participants, your not-for-profit organization can use the official Monopoly trademark and copyrighted images.

Instructions

1. Obtain approval from Hasbro. Simply download the official "MONOPOLY Tournament Guide" from Hasbro's website, fill out the "MONOPOLY Game Tournament Event Registration Form" and submit the completed form to Hasbro at:

MONOPOLY Game Tournament Director

Hasbro Games

443 Shaker Road

East Longmeadow, MA 01028

2. Solicit participants for the tournament by advertising on the Internet, in newspapers, or on bulletin boards, or by distributing fliers; you may also want to notify game and hobby stores. The success of your tournament depends on having a healthy turnout, and you will need a minimum of 24 participants to get the official Hasbro stamp of approval.

3. Ensure that all promotional materials comply with the rules of use listed in the tournament guide, which includes specific guidelines on the use of the MONOPOLY game trademark, the board, pieces, images and other intellectual property owned by Hasbro. For instance, you cannot modify any of the images from the Monopoly game. No objects can be inserted into the hands of "Rich Uncle Penny Bags", and the Monopoly logo cannot be obscured by borders, images or any other modification. If you use the Monopoly game logo, it must appear horizontally on the promotional material, and it must be straight, not at an angle.

4. Raise money by charging an entrance or registration fee; $25 per participant would be reasonable. Also solicit donations from local businesses. For instance, you might consider asking local real estate agencies, brokerages and other real estate-related businesses to sponsor a table at your event for a flat fee of, say, $500. Another option would be to ask players to solicit pledged donations, such as a penny or dime for every dollar of Monopoly money they earn throughout the day. If you choose this method, remember to allow donors the option of setting a cap. You might also request flat donations rated on a scale from "Baltic" (smaller amounts) to "Boardwalk" (larger donations). Set a goal and reach for it. If you are raising money for a local food closet that needs $10,000 to meet its operating budget during the summer, try to raise $10,000. If you are holding the tournament to benefit a local homeless shelter and want to generate $4,000 to purchase new beds, blankets and supplies, set that as your goal and then pursue it aggressively. However you solicit the donations, all proceeds must go to the charitable organization specified on the registration form; the tournament director may not charge a fee for organizing the tournament.

5. Find a venue. Based on pre-registration numbers, you should have an idea of the size venue you will need. Sometimes rooms can be reserved at local libraries, schools or colleges for a small fee. If you need a large space, book a conference room at a local hotel. If you inform the hotel that you are booking the room for a charity event, you might be able to get a discounted rate or donation. If you are holding your tournament during fair-weather seasons, you might consider reserving space at a park through your local parks and recreation department. Some local churches might also be willing to donate space for the tournament. Be creative and consider several options.

6. Decide the tournament structure in advance. Hasbro requires that there be at least two rounds, with each round lasting 90 minutes and the final round consisting of six players. Single elimination, double elimination and round robin are all common tournament structures. You might also consider having a "consolation" tournament for those who have been eliminated. As long as you meet the minimum requirements posted by Hasbro, you have some freedom in this area, so determine the format that will be best for your location, time limit and tournament goals.

7. Acquire signatures from all participants on the day of the tournament. It is required that they sign the "Participant Registration Form" located in the tournament guide. After you have completed your tournament, fill out the "Winner Notification Form" and submit it, along with the "Participant Registration Form," official score sheets and any press clippings to:

MONOPOLY Game Tournament Director

Hasbro Games

443 Shaker Road

East Longmeadow, MA 01028

8. Determine how you will process your donations. You can request that all donation and registration checks be made out directly to your chosen charity. Cash donations can be pooled together and donated directly to the charity as a cash donation. You might also consider opening an account for the tournament funds, depositing all funds directly into the account and then making a single donation to your chosen charitable organization, though people might be more reluctant to make checks out to "Joe Smith, tournament director." However you decide to manage the funds, be sure you contact the charity you have selected in advance to notify them that you will be attempting to raise funds for their program. They will likely have promotional materials and staff that can assist you in handling donations and other aspects of fundraising.

Make A Florida Shrimp Trap

Use a homemade shrimp trap and get ready to eat.

There are two primary methods for catching shrimp in Florida: buy a shrimping boat or use a casting net. Both processes can be expensive, laborious and time-consuming. There are other ways, however, to catch shrimp that are much easier and practical than the methods used by professional shrimpers. You can build your own trap to get those shrimp out of the water and onto your plate.

Instructions

1. Rinse the plastic soda bottle with hot water to clean it. Refrain from using soap or cleaners. Place several pin holes in the side of the bottle, preferably throughout the lower half of the bottle. Remove the cap from the bottle and discard it.

2. An empty plastic 2-liter soda bottle can be transformed into a shrimp trap.

Cut the bottle, removing approximately 1/3 from the top of the bottle. Save the top, though, you will use it later.

3. Place two holes in the top of the larger section of the bottle to attach the nylon rope. Glue the lead weights to the outside of the bottom of the bottle. Place a thin layer of glue around the inside rim of the larger section of the bottle. Invert the smaller section of the bottle and place it inside the larger section, securing it with the glue inside the larger section of the bottle. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours before using the trap.

4. Place shrimp food or bait in the bottom of the trap. Place the trap in the the water and allow it to sink to the bottom. Tie the rope to a fixed structure, such as the side of a fishing boat or a dock. Check the trap every one to two hours. After the shrimp are retrieved, place more bait in the bottom of the trap and recast.

Make A Ducttape Wallet

A duct-tape wallet is simple craft that you can create in less than a half hour.

Creating a duct-tape wallet can be an easy way to express your individuality and artistic skills or simply a way to carry around your money without spending money. There are many ways to create a duct-tape wallet, but most ignore longevity. Avoiding exposed edges by simply sealing over the wallet will give you a personalized money holder that will last.

Instructions

1. Rip off two pieces of duct tape at least an inch longer than a dollar bill.

2. Overlap the two pieces of tape along the length by at least half an inch, laying the tape face up on your cutting board. Be sure the height of the combined pieces of tape is slightly larger than the height of the dollar bill. You should end up with a rectangular combined strip of tape.

3. Rip off three more pieces of tape about a half inch longer than your original pieces. Stick to the combined strip, overlapping the edges all around the original rectangle.

4. Flip over the combined pieces so that the sticky edges are showing. At each corner of the exposed sticky tape, make a cut at about a 45-degree angle down to the edge of the non-sticky side.

5. Fold the tape down all along the edges and seal it at the corners.

6. Create a second rectangular piece by repeating steps 1-4. When overlaying, substitute the half-inch measure with a quarter inch to create a shorter piece.

7. Fold the tape down along only the top edge.

8. Wrap the other edges around the first rectangular piece, creating a pocket. The top of the wallet and the top of the pocket should be staggered.

9. Fold the combined rectangular pieces in half to create the wallet.

Make A Dream Board

A dream board is a tool you can use to focus your goals, which may help you to achieve them. Keeping your dreams at the forefront of your everyday thoughts keeps you on track. The more conscious you are of your dreams and goals, the better you will be at seeing them come true.

Instructions

1. List your goals and then review them before you go to sleep and when you rise in the morning. Envision them as part of your present reality. If you want a particular job, imagine yourself sitting at the desk in the office for that company.

2. Find images in magazines and other periodicals that match the items on your list and cut them out. For example, if you want to buy a great home, clip pictures of homes that would satisfy your goal. Look for images that remind you and connect you with your intention and keep you aligned with your goals.

3. Paste the images in a collage on a poster board. Make the images and design aesthetically pleasing to you, as you will look at it several times a day.

4. Hang your dream board by the front door, in a hallway or any area where you're sure to see it throughout the day. Each time you see it, picture yourself in the images on the board as if your goals are already achieved.

Make A Disney'S Pixar Cars Cake

Use frosting and toys to make a cake with a on the movie

Disney's Pixar animated feature film "Cars" followed the life of an anthropomorphic race car named Lightning McQueen. The movie became popular with little boys and girls alike. If your little "Cars" fan wants a themed birthday party, you can use the movie as the theme and make a special cake using frosting and plastic toys. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Prepare and bake a cake using your prefer homemade cake recipe or store-bought cake mix. Bake the cake in an 8-inch-by-13-inch baking dish. Allow the cake to cool completely before removing it from the pan. Removing it before it cools may result in the cake ripping and tearing.

2. Place the cooled cake on a cardboard cake board. If the top of the cake is not flat, use a serrated knife to remove the top layer of the cake to level it. Brush away any crumbs.

3. Put four pieces of wax paper under the edges of the cake. The pieces should sit under the cake 1-inch and extend out from all sides 2-inches. This helps prevent messy frosting on the cake display.

4. Frost the cake using colored frosting and an offset spatula. Place a black strip down the center of the cake that is 4-inches wide. On either side of the black strip, frost the cake with green frosting. The black is a road and the green is grass. Another option for the grass is to use a piping bag to pipe the grass on.

5. Fill a piping bag, or zip top bag with a corner cup off, with white frosting. Pipe 1-inch lines down the center of the black road to create lanes.

6. Turn three sugar cone ice cream cones upside down. Place them on the cake in the green frosting. You can place all three grouped together, or place them in random places based on your preference. Cover the ice cream cones with green frosting. Leave the bottom 1/2 inch of the cone unfrosted. This creates trees.

7. Place several plastic toys from the movie "Cars" on the cake. Put them on the black road you created with frosting. If you don't have toys from the movie, other small toy cars will suffice.

You can call the department at (850) 245-6058 or visit the department's website to request the required forms.

Make A Charity Website

Whether you have a fully fledged long-term charity or a short-term fundraising effort, creating a website provides instant information to potential donors. The type of website depends on available funds, expertise of the organization's members, and the scope of the project. For instance, an organization collecting money would have a different setup from one soliciting volunteers. An organization selling merchandise would require a "shopping cart" interface as opposed to an organization committed to awareness, which would be more informational. Free website hosting and templates provide the easiest method for beginners.

Instructions

1. Write down the charity's goals for the website and outline the needs. For example, if you are collecting donations, you will need an online method to receive the funds. If you are seeking volunteers, you need a sign-up or contact form.

2. Create written content for the website. Decide whether the website will be updated with regular news or just a page of general information.

3. Collect digital photos or graphics for the website.

4. Investigate the many available free hosting options appropriate for your needs. Check blog hosting such as Blogger.com or Wordpress.com for websites that will be regularly updated. Check sites such as Google Sites or Microsoft Live for static websites.

5. Write down several ideas for the website's URL. The address name should relate to the charity's name. The free hosting sites will ask for a name during the registration process and alert you to change a duplicate name.

6. Sign up for the free hosting service. Follow the on-screen instructions for creating the account.

7. Choose a free template that is included with the various hosting options. Experiment with different layouts and choose one that meets your needs.

8. Read the host's help and tutorial pages. They are usually written for beginners.

9. Investigate methods for collecting funds online. Paypal offers free donation accounts, as does Google Checkout. Follow the company's instructions for adding a donate feature to your website.

10. Add your content and graphics according to the website host's instructions.

11. Share your website. Send email to previous donors, friends and family. Add the URL to your signature in related forums. Ask other website owners to include a link to your website. Include the URL in your organization's newsletters and bulletins.

Make A Car For Gta San Andreas

"Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" is an action game developed and published by Rockstar Games for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC. The game puts the player in control of C.J., a small-time San Andreas hood who must fight to regain his territory and then exact revenge on the crooked cop who put him away. This game differs from many other games in the series in that it gives you the ability to design your own car by using any of the other cars in the game as a basic model.

Instructions

1. Get a car. You can do so by carjacking, stealing a parked car or getting in any cars that may be in your garage.

2. Take you car to one of the five car modification places in the city. There are two in the Los Santos area, two in the San Fierro area and one in the Las Venturas area. Keep in mind that the "Wheel Angels" in San Fierro only modifies street racing vehicles, and the Loco Low Co. in Los Santos only modifies low-rider vehicles.

3. Modify your car. Depending on the car you brought in, you can add a number of features to it, such as hydraulics, new paint jobs, spoilers, hood vents, roof scoops and many others. All of these modifications will cost money, so you will need to make sure you have enough to modify the car to your needs.

Make A Button Bib

When you put a button bib around a baby's neck, her hair won't get caught up in the ties in the back that are often found on other bibs. The button effortlessly keeps the bib in place, while the bib itself absorbs drools or dropped food from the baby's mouth. Use the bib pattern to cut out a bib that will fit a baby approximately 6 to 9 months of age.

Instructions

1. Print the bib pattern from the "Resources" section onto a piece of paper.

2. Pin the pattern on one side of a piece of terrycloth. Cut through the pattern and into the terrycloth, cutting along the lines for the bib pattern. Remove the pattern from the bib.

3. Fold and pin the terrycloth, one-half inch from the edge. Pin with straight pins.

4. Use a sewing machine to sew a zigzag stitch around the folded edge to create a seam, overlapping the cut edge. The zigzag stitch keeps the terrycloth hem from unraveling.

5. Sew a button hole on the short side of the back of the bib. Make the button hole 1 inch from the end and in the middle of the material.

6. Sew a button on the long side of the back of the bib. Make the button 1 1/4 inches from the end and in the middle of the material.

Make A Beaded Bib Necklace

Make a Beaded Bib Necklace

Bib necklaces are a hot jewelry item. Many are selling at upscale boutiques for close to $100. You can create your own bib necklace in just a few minutes using some supplies you can pick up at an arts and crafts store. You can have the same fashion accessory tailored to your style for a fraction of the cost. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Cut tulle into rectangle that is 1 yard by 1 yard.

2. Fold tulle in half. It's okay if the edges are not completely straight.

3. Hold down center and fold each side up kind of like you're making a paper plane.

4. Take first gem and glue where all three pieces of tulle meet in order to anchor the bib. You only need a small amount of glue; tulle is very absorbent.

5. Fold down the two sides near the triangle points of the bib section, holding it in place with glued gems or beads, in order to make the bib portion of the necklace more distinct. It should almost resemble one of those impossible-to-fold origami cranes with the sides being the pointed-down wings and the "bib" part of the necklace being the body.

6. Place gems, feathers and beads sporadically throughout the bib section to create a couture look.

1. Type the name of the event and center it onto the first page of a new word-processing document. Use a font size that can be read from at least 5 feet away.

2. Draw a text box and insert a photo from last year's event. Enlarge and center the box and image underneath the title.

3. Draw another text box and widen the box to fit the page. Type a section briefly describing the cause, the route, the regulations and the prizes offered to the top winners. Include the location of the starting point, the date and the time of the event. Using bold headings in a slightly larger font between the sentences to break-up the information and make it more reader-friendly. Type the event's contact person, telephone number, registration deadline and fee.

4. Draw a dotted line directly underneath the description box using either a drawing tool or by pressing the hyphen button across the entire width of the page.

5. Insert another text box to fit the remainder of the page and include registration information for each participant to complete. Type a line for the participant's name, address, telephone number, email address and payment information to record the type and amount of donations.

6. Review the flyer to ensure that all words are spelled correctly and adequate grammar and punctuation is used throughout the text. Restructure the boxes of the flyer as necessary for spacing and overall appeal.

7. Print the document and inspect it again. Make color photocopies at a print shop or office supply store to avoid using numerous printer cartridges in making enough flyers for advertising across the area.

Make An Sks A Scout Rifle

The SKS uses the same round as the AK-47.

Designed in the Soviet Union following the end of World War II, the SKS is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm. In the years after the war, the Soviet Union allowed its client states to produce their own versions of the rifle. One of the more famous versions is the Yugoslavian 55/66 which had a bayonet and a grenade launcher. Converting these surplus firearms into scout rifles requires strict adherence to U.S. laws regarding changing parts on an imported gun. Any new parts added to an imported rifle must be U.S.-made. Tapco produces a kit designed to build a tactical scout rifle while ensuring compliance with US law.

Instructions

1. Ensure the rifle is safe. With the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, pull the bolt back and ensure that the magazine is empty and there are no rounds in the chamber. Engage the safety by flipping the lever in the trigger guard.

2. Remove the trigger group. Using the flat head screwdriver, press the small button at the back of the trigger guard. This unlatches the trigger guard. Pull the trigger group out of the rifle. Pull the rifle bolt open and swing the the magazine away from the rifle and remove.

3. Remove the receiver and barrel. Grasp the stock with one hand and pull the receiver and barrel away. Set the old stock aside. Locate the small retainer lever on the right side of the receiver below the rear sight. Pivot the lever to the first detent. This permits the removal of the gas tube, piston and hand guard. Put pressure on the operating rod and pivot the lever past the first detent. The allows the operating rod and spring to come out of the rifle.

4. Disassemble the hand guard and gas tube. Using the pin punch, remove the tapered pin holding the hand guard to the gas tube from the narrow end.

5. Install the new hand guard. Slide the gas tube into the hard guard from the Tapco Intrafuse Rifle System. Insert the new rivet and press it into place using the vise. Slide the new gas piston from the system into the assembly.

6. Install the new operating rod. Place the original operating rod spring onto the operating rod from the Tapco system. Firmly press the operating rod assembly into the receiver and pivot the retainer lever in the first detent to retain the operating rod.

7. Install the gas tube, piston and hand guard. Press the assembly into its original position and pivot the retainer lever back to its original position.

8. Install the new stock. Place the receiver and barrel into the new Tapco stock. Insert the provided trigger guard spring into the stock. Insert the trigger group removed in step 2 and press it into place until it clicks past the small button.

9. Install the new pistol grip. The original SKS did not ship with a pistol grip. Install the new one provided by Tapco onto the lug protruding from the stock. Use the socket wrench to bolt the pistol grip to the stock using the bolt from the kit.

10. Install the collapsible stock. Slide the collapsible stock onto the main body and gently tap it until it sits flush. Use the two provided screws and nuts to tighten the stock to the body using an Allen wrench.

11. Open the bolt to insert the new magazine. Unlike the original SKS magazine, the one provided with the Tapco system is removable.

12. Mount the scout scope. The hand guard provides an integrated Picatinny rail to mount scopes or other optics. Due to its forward nature, a scout scope with long eye relief is required. Attach the scope to the rail. Do not over-tighten, as the hand guard is made of plastic.

Make An Iron Man Suit

The 2008 release of the film "Iron Man" jump-started the popularity of the Marvel superhero, making an Iron Man costume suit a popular choice for costume parties and events. Making such a suit can be a complex process using several components put together, especially if you want help creating a more "muscular" version like in the film. Even after you assemble the full body suit, the helmet itself might be the most difficult piece unless you can simplify it.

Instructions

1. Take a set of gold or yellow colored sweats or long johns. Try to find a set that's as much of a faded yellow as possible. This set will make the underlying portion of the suit.

2. Add an oversized T-shirt and compression shorts that can easily fit over the yellow sweats, as well as a set of work gloves and old boots. All of these need to be the same dark crimson red color. If you can't find them in the same shade, color them with crimson dye. The shirt, shorts and gloves can be dipped, while the boots will need the dye applied with a brush.

3. Cut the ends of the sleeves off of the T-shirt, leaving the very ends of the sleeves that connect to the shoulders. Cut off the legs of the shorts to turn them into a form of bikini briefs.

4. Shape blocks of urethane foam to form pectoral muscles with a pocketknife or other artistic knife. Glue these "muscles" to the inside of the T-shirt using a sturdy contact cement.

5. Create the helmet. There are multiple ways you can do this, but the simplest can involve a hockey mask and ski mask. Dye the ski mask the same crimson color as the other clothes, pain the hockey mask the same gold/yellow color as the sweats, then glue the hockey mask to the front of the ski mask with the contact cement.

Make An Iron Man Costume

Make an Iron Man Costume

The popularity of the new Iron Man movie in theaters means you'll see a lot of Iron Man costumes this Halloween. If you're having a party, going to a party or trick-or-treating around the block, you'll want to be wearing your own fabulous homemade Iron Man costume.

Instructions

1. Cut the sleeves off the t-shirt to begin making this costume. Then, cut the sides out of the shirt. Place the red shirt over the yellow shirt. You will wear both layers at once. Sew or glue the red shirt to the outside of the yellow shirt.

2. Cut the legs off the red bike shorts to make them look like Iron Man's. You will wear these over the yellow pants. If you cannot find yellow spandex pants, leggings will work just as well.

3. Wear the red shorts over the yellow pants just as Iron Man does.

4. Cut red fabric to go around the bottom of your pants. It should come up to the mid-calf, just like Iron Man's boots. Then, sew or glue it to the pants. Wear the pants with matching yellow socks. As an alternative, you can wear red boots, though you won't need red fabric for the costume's legs if you opt to go that route.

5. Measure around the lower sleeves of the yellow t-shirt. Then, cut red fabric to fit around them. Next, sew or glue them to the sleeves of the yellow T-shirt. Alternatively, you can wear red gloves that are long enough to fit up your forearm, like Iron Man.

6. Paint your face yellow with the yellow face paint. If you will be wearing a ski mask for a helmet or a store-bought mask, you don't have to bother.

7. Keep things really simple by just wearing an Iron Man costume t-shirt with your favorite pair of jeans, like those available from SuperheroStuff.com, StylinOnline.com or 80sTees.com (see Resources below). People will get the idea, and it's a lot less work, although you won't look as authentic.

Make An Environmentalist Costume

A "tree hugger" is another name for an environmentalist.

Dress up with an environmental theme for Halloween, a costume party or Earth Day. Dress as Mother or Father Earth to remind those around you to care for the environment. Make a natural looking costume from flowing robes and homemade leaf attachments, and adorn your head with an ivy crown.

Instructions

1. Put on a long, floor length robe in a natural color such as tan, brown, taupe or mauve. Light green and blue are appropriate as well.

2. Cut scraps of fabric and pieces of construction paper into leaf-like shapes. Sew the leaves all over the robe, focusing on the arms and around the collar. The leaves will give the robes a shaggy aesthetic reminiscent of the woods, trees or trailing vines.

3. Bend plastic ivy wire into a circle to make an ivy crown. Wear sandals made from hemp or another natural material with your costume.

4. Wear your hair long and if you are a man, grow a beard out to enhance the natural element of your costume. If you are dressing up for Earth Day, carry pamphlets with information about environmental awareness to compliment your Father Earth persona.

Make An Elvis Costume For Kids From Things Around The House

JAILHOUSE ROCK Elvis costume

Your child will be "dancin' to the jailhouse rock!" in no time with this Elvis costume. Because Elvis enjoyed fame for several decades, it's easy to choose an instantly-recognizable, yet simply rendered costume from one of his early movies or stage appearances. "Jailhouse Rock," released in 1957, was Elvis Presley's third film. In it he portrayed Vince Everett, an ex-con who was trying to break into the music industry. Presley's famous dance sequence from the film has been credited by many historians as the first-ever music video. So, scour your closets, chests and drawers for the necessary ingredients, and remember to be flexible.

Instructions

1. Use the tailor's chalk, chalk or white fabric marker, to make white dashes along the indicated seams and areas on the black coat, men's dress jacket, or over-sized black shirt as noted on Illustration A.

2. Repeat the above step using the chalk to make dashes on the zipper fly of the black jeans or slacks.

3. Trace or draw the numbers "6240" on a piece of white fabric or white paper. Cut out the numbers with a pair of scissors.

4. Glue, stitch or iron on the numbers to the upper left jacket or shirt pocket. If there is no pocket, place the numbers in the area where the pocket should be.

5. Dress the child in the basic costume--the black jacket, black pants (preferably a size too small), a bold striped T-shirt or button-down shirt, white or light-colored socks and black shoes.

6. Apply hair gel, mousse or even a dab of petroleum jelly to the child's hair to create that famous slicked-back, Elvis look.

7. Take the eyebrow pencil and draw modest sideburns on your child's face--Elvis's sideburns didn't become longer and more elaborate until the 1970s. Use your finger to fill in and blend the sideburns.

8. Complete the look with an old guitar if you have one, or possibly a guitar used in popular video game systems.

Make An Elvis Costume

An Elvis Presley costume is a real show-stopping number for Halloween. You can buy generic Elvis costumes from local party supply stores, costume stores and online Halloween costume vendors, but to be truly unique, you should make an Elvis costume.

Instructions

1. Start to grow the top of your hair really long so you can have a pompadour by Halloween. Otherwise, look for an Elvis wig. You can find them at your local party or costume store, or even at a specialty wig shop. You can order wigs online and some even have adjustable caps so they can fit any head size. Be sure yours comes with lamb chop sideburns, since those are characteristic of cheesy Elvis impersonators.

2. Learn all the words to several Elvis Presley songs and practice the Elvis-pelvis gyrating dance moves. Once you put the suit on, you'll want to do them and you need to make sure that you know how. Otherwise you're just playing air guitar and humming along.

3. Browse thrift shops and second hand stores for tacky polyester suits. Make sure the pants have bell bottoms and that you have an appropriately tacky button-down shirt to wear underneath.

4. Iron on sequined appliques or use one of those craft-guns to press jewels, stones or studs into the fabric. Embellish the bottoms of the legs, the collar and the arms. You might also want to make a gaudy pattern on the back of the jacket, or write the name "Elvis" with sequins or gems.

5. Find blue suede shoes, or just pretend with any old dress shoes. You can buy faux blue suede and make shoe covers to go over the top of your shoes if you feel strongly about it.

6. Style your hair last, so you don't mess it up while you're getting dressed. If your hair is long enough to do a pompadour, blow dry it thoroughly and add plenty of mousse. Back-comb (tease) the top so it stands up into a big fuzzy poof and then comb the front smoothly back over the mass. It should look smooth from front to back, and the back-combing will make it full at the front. Spray thoroughly with hair spray to keep it solid. If you are wearing a wig, make sure to pin it in place securely.

Make An Eco Friendly Halloween Costume

Go Green

Most people know that making a Halloween costume instead of buying one will save money, but it also makes it easier to create an eco friendly version. Check out these five environmentally friendly, homemade Halloween costumes.

Instructions

1. Play the rol of Greek god or goddess. Other than throwing a sheet over your head and dressing as a ghost, this is probably the easiest costume to make. Head to the fabric store and find a white, organic cotton sheet for your toga. You'll also want to have a pair of old sandals available. If you need to buy new ones, opt for "green" footwear from Patagonia, Terra Plana, and Veja. Last but not least, you'll need a head wreath. Instead of buying one made from harmful plastics and synthetics, hit up your local florist for an all natural one.

2. Masquerade as Mother Nature. The best part about this option is that much of the costume is composed of natural materials. Start with a base of Fair Trade, organic cotton clothes (hippie-themed flowing tops and long skirts) and add a pair of sandals. Stick with blues and greens for an earthier look. From there, you can use your imagination. Pinning flowers from a local garden and/or cut-out animal shapes from recycled paper to the costume is a great way to add detail. And if you have any old stuffed animals lying around, carry them along for added effect.

3. Dress up as a mummy. This classic Halloween costume is easy to make and doesn't require purchasing any new materials. Grab an old pair of pants, long-sleeved t-shirt and some old white or light gray sheets. Start by cutting the sheets into long strips. Next, glue (only the eco friendly kind, of course) the strips onto the pants and shirt in a loose, circular wrapping pattern. Mix up natural ingredients like cornstarch or flour, cold cream, and water to create eco friendly white paint for your face and hands. Start smearing the paint, put on your mummy clothes, and party like the undead.

4. Embody global warming. This costume takes a little more effort to make, but you can use all recycled materials. Raid your closet or hit up the thrift store for dark blue and green clothing to wear as a base. Next, cut a piece of recycled cardboard into a large circular shape and then cut an old map to fit the cardboard. Attach a light chain or rope to the top of the cardboard and wear it like you would a large necklace. Finally, break out an old thermometer and old-fashioned ice bag for your "overheated" head, pile on the blush for a super-flushed look, and there you have it -- you're officially global warming.

5. Make a white trash costume. Don't let all those discarded plastic bags go to waste -- use them as a base for a Halloween costume. Find as many white plastic bags as you can, along with any white colored pieces of trash (paper, plastic, etc.) that might work. Next, find a base of white clothes to pin all of the plastic bags to. Cover as much of the clothing as you can with the plastic bags, and save a few to wear as a hat or headband. Feel free to dye your face white with all natural, homemade face paint (cornstarch or flour, cold cream, water) for extra whiteness, and then your transformation into white trash is complete.

Make An Adult Bib From A Man'S Shirt

Bibs can be made from any type of material.

Bibs come in handy for the messiest of meals, such as lobster, or for special needs children and adults. Finding adult-sized bibs can often be difficult, especially if the wearer is larger than average. Special-ordering these items can be expensive. Bibs for adults can be made inexpensively using materials found either around the house or at a local discount fabric store.

Instructions

1. Draw a square or rectangle on the the waterproof material, larger than the size that you want for your bib. Cut out the shape. Lay it over the top of the man's shirt and trace the shape onto the fabric with the pen or marker. The collar should be centered near the top of the square or rectangle. Cut the shape out of the shirt, ensuring you do not cut into the circular collar. The collar of the T-shirt should remain intact because the bib will just slip over the head with no fasteners needed. The T-shirt collar will be the collar of the bib, as well.

2. Cut a circle from the waterproof material that will line up with the collar of the T-shirt. Place the two shapes together, with the inside shirt material facing the inside of the waterproof layer (if there are prints on each material). Pin the material around each edge to prevent it from moving while sewing. Try the bib on someone to ensure it is long enough and the collar is wide enough.

3. Sew around the outer edges of the shape, and around the inner collar circle. Using a sewing machine, sew your seam 1/4 inch from the edge. If hand sewing, double back stitch (add an extra row of stitching) to prevent threads being pulled. Leave a 2-inch gap unsewn to facilitate easier turning right side out. Hem decoratively around the outer edges and inner collar to finish the piece and add more durability.

Maintain Mental Focus

Whether you're studying for an exam or trying to pay attention in a mundane business meeting, maintaining mental focus sometimes seems impossible. Finding ways to maintain mental focus is key to success in a fast paced world that often requires this type of intense cerebral attention.

Instructions

1. Eliminate distractions. When possible, remove yourself from the distraction. Turn off the ringer on the phone, go to a quiet room, get a babysitter or put your child down for a nap. Try not to allow distractions that can not be controlled to discourage you to a point to where they inhibit all progress. Taking a small amount of time to fix the situation will always produce at least a minimally better result.

2. Retain your goals. Keeping your goals in mind will inevitably make you focus harder. This is especially true when you cannot remove yourself from distractions. Focusing on your goal will prioritize what is more important and place good pressure on your shoulders.

3. Take a mental break. Although children generally have shorter attention spans, they do have some techniques that should be followed. Allowing your mind to wander for a little while will better enable you to focus when the time comes.

4. Train to maintain. Just as athletes train their bodies to maintain endurance, so should we with our minds when it comes to maintaining mental focus. Performing tasks that require mental focus often will train your mind to align to this specific zone quicker and for longer amounts of time the more you practice. Playing games such as chess or any type of task that requires you to maintain mental focus will slowly build your ability to concentrate.

5. Eat a healthy brain diet. Generally speaking, foods that burn slower will allow you the mental energy to maintain focus for longer periods of time. Studies have shown that the brain performs better when you eat slow burning calories such as oatmeal, trail mix and fruit. However foods that are high in sugar produce a counter affect as they burn quickly and often leave you feeling drained. As with any other aspect of health, maintaining mental focus has a lot to do with your diet.

6. Visit your doctor. Your doctor may be able to prescribe medication or make a suggestion of an over the counter supplement that may boost your brain's focus capacity.

Maintain Energy During The First Trimester

Pregnancy is one of the most memorable -- and yet tiring -- periods of a woman's life.

Pregnancy can be a joyful experience, but the first trimester can exhaust the expectant mother's body. This is due to increased hormones and metabolic rates used to support the developing baby. Eating right, exercising, taking the recommended amount of vitamins and minerals, and resting are just some ways that a woman can preserve her energy during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Instructions

Instructions

1. Healthy eating provides energy for the mom and baby.

Eat healthy foods. Stick with small meals throughout the day to boost energy levels. A colorful blend of fruits and vegetables provides a natural source of vitamins so that energy levels are maintained throughout the day. Vegetables like broccoli are an excellent source of vitamin C and beta-carotene, which help keep you energized.

2. Even a leisurely stroll can be energizing.

Perform light exercise. Rather than using pregnancy as an excuse to sit around, getting up and moving around is highly recommended. To maintain energy levels, stick with a light exercise regimen -- even if that regimen merely comprises brief walks throughout the day. Pregnant women should seek the advice and clearance of their healthcare provider before deciding on any exercise routine.

3. A doctor often prescribes vitamins once pregnancy has been determined.

Control your intake of vitamins and minerals. Pregnant women should provide their bodies with vitamins and minerals to compensate for the fact that most of the body's nutrients are being directed toward the growing baby. Eating certain fruits can help an expectant mother get the vitamins that she needs. For example, a tasty orange is a significant source of vitamin C, which promotes a healthy immune system and boosts energy.

4. Sleep is important for a pregnant woman to maintain her energy.

Get plenty of rest. The goal is to boost energy levels -- and therefore, a woman should listen to what her body tells her. If the body signals that it is tired, it is time to rest. Even taking quick naps can be an ideal way to re-energize the body during the first trimester. Lie down and nap when your other children are napping, or when you find time between housework. If you are a businessperson, catch a quick nap at work during lunch breaks.

5. Water prevents dehydration, which helps to reduce fatigue.

Stay hydrated. Dehydration is known to cause feelings of fatigue in pregnant women. This issue can be avoided by drinking plenty of fluids. Water is the best liquid intake for a pregnant woman's body. Avoid sugary drinks since they only provide a quick burst of energy that fades and is quickly replaced with fatigue. Water keeps the body hydrated and creates an energizing fuel for both mother and child.

Maintain A Healthy Weight During Pregnancy

By maintaining a healthy, moderate amount of weight gain you can limit the severity of these symptoms. Gaining too much weight can also increase your risk for developing gestational diabetes.

2. Understand that the healthy amount of weight you should gain during pregnancy is determined by what you weighed prior to becoming pregnant. If you were overweight before pregnancy, your goal should be to not gain more than 25 pounds. If you were underweight or at a healthy weight, you should shoot for no more than 40 pounds.

A good way to gauge your fitness level is to look at how long it takes for you to run a specific length. Five kilometers, or just over 3 miles, is a good length because it is long enough to require a certain level of personal fitness but not so long that it takes an entire day to run. What's more, many races are 5k so it is easier to compete with this length. There are a few training techniques you can take to lower your 5k time, all of which involve boosting muscle, reducing fat and generally becoming more physically fit.

Instructions

1. Split your runs into different variations on different days of the week. Combine long runs and interval training with sprint training to keep your muscles "guessing" and encourage them to grow more, which is the key to better speed.

2. Interval train for 20 minutes on the first day. Run for a short period, then slow down to a walk for a short period, then repeat. The lengths of the intervals and rests depend on your overall fitness. If your 5k generally takes around 40 minutes, you should run for one minute, then walk for one minute. If, on the other hand, your 5k only takes 30 minutes or less, then you should run for 3 minutes and walk for one minute.

3. Take a day to recover. During your recovery day, you shouldn't be a total blob. Go for a walk, slow swim or conduct some other other low-impact physical activity that still gets your blood flowing a little bit.

4. Run sprints on the following day. Cover a specific distance as fast as you can, then stop and rest for a few minutes, then repeat. For your first workout, run four 400-yard sprints.

5. Run for 2.5 miles the next day. This is not a time goal, but rather a distance goal. You should cover it, but you shouldn't be completely out of breath at the end.

6. Increase your interval training workout by 5 minutes at the start of the next week. Continue to do so until you reach 30 minutes. Interval training should not, however, exceed 30 minutes.

7. Add two 400-yard sprints every week, until you reach a total of 12.

8. Periodically change the length of your long run, going as high as 5 miles and as low as 2 miles. Do not, however, run the same distance two weeks in a row.

9. Run your 5k after 7 weeks (or more) of sticking to this and compare your time with your previous 5k time. With any luck, you will have shaved some time off.

Lower Blood Glucose

High blood glucose can lead to high triglycerides.

High blood glucose levels are dangerous even for people who don't have diabetes. When glucose stays in the blood stream too long, sugar coats red blood cells and makes them stiff. This leads to cholesterol buildup on the walls of arteries and interferes with circulation, according to Ohio State University. Cholesterol buildup is extremely dangerous and can lead to heart attack and stroke.

Instructions

1. One out of three adults don't exercise regularly, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Exercise aerobically daily for a minimum of 30 minutes. Physical activity helps lower blood glucose by increasing insulin sensitivity. In addition, muscles take up glucose at almost 20 times their normal rate during exercise, which helps lower blood sugar levels, according to Net Wellness.

2. Start with lighter weights if you're new to weight training.

Perform strength-training exercises at least three times a week. Strength training helps improves glucose metabolism in muscle cells, which in turn lowers blood glucose levels.

3. Plant-based diets significantly reduce blood glucose levels.

Eat low-glycemic, fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, legumes and fresh vegetables. Fiber helps regulate blood glucose levels.

4. Add cinnamon to your diet by sprinkling it on oatmeal each morning. Research suggests that cinnamon may help lower blood glucose, according to the Mayo Clinic.

5. Eliminate high-glycemic refined carbohydrates such as white bread and soda from your diet. Diets high in refined carbohydrates increase blood glucose levels, according to the Harvard School of Public Health.

6. Drink a cup of green tea when you wake up in the morning. Green tea helps regulate blood glucose levels, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

7. Add onions to your diet. Onions lowers blood glucose levels because of their high sulfur and flavonoid content.

8. Brazil nuts are a rich source of selenium, which helps regulate blood sugar.

Eat a handful of Brazil nuts daily. Brazil nuts are rich in healthy fats, magnesium and selenium, which all help improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood glucose levels, according to the University of Mary Washington.

9. Lose weight by eating a vegetable-based diet and exercising daily. Losing weight can significantly help lower blood glucose levels.

10. Use ginger root when you cook. Ginger may help lower blood sugar levels, according to Medline Plus.

11. Drink or cook with American ginseng. Several studies indicate that ginseng lowers blood glucose levels in people with Type 2 diabetes, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

12. One cup of broccoli has 22 micrograms of chromium.

Eat chromium-rich foods such as onion, broccoli, black pepper, green peppers, romaine lettuce and tomatoes. Chromium may help regulate blood glucose levels, according to the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University.

Lose Your Belly Fat With Interval Training

The term "interval training" refers to a system of cardiovascular exercise that alternates timed periods of high-intensity work with lower-intensity rest periods. Interval training is a challenging workout that gets your heart pumping hard and boosts your metabolism into overdrive. Your body burns high amounts of stored fat not only during the interval training workout, but for hours afterwards.

Instructions

Pre-Programmed Interval Training

1. Select a cross-trainer, elliptical trainer, stair mill or stationary bicycle as your training equipment. Varying your choice of cardiovascular equipment from week to week utilizes different muscles and helps prevent overtraining.

2. Select the pre-programmed "interval training" or "speed training" program for 15 minutes. The machine will take you through a light-intensity warmup that lasts about 5 minutes.

3. Move at a faster pace for the timed-interval program, which will generally last 15 to 30 seconds. At the conclusion of the speed interval, the pace will slow for a period of time (your "rest" period) before picking up again.

4. Alternate periods of high-intensity speed work with lower-intensity rest periods for the full 15 minute program. A brief cool-down of 3-5 minutes that allows your heart rate to return to normal will complete the interval-training workout.

Manual Interval Training

5. You can also perform an interval workout without pre-programmed software on a stationary bicycle, jogging or jumping rope. Begin by warming up for 5 minutes by walking, running in place or jogging lightly. Stretch tight, sore muscles gently.

6. Marking the start time with the second hand on your watch, perform your high-intensity "interval" for 15-30 seconds. Work at an intensity of about 7 or 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being maximum speed, as if you were running for your life). If using a machine, set the program on "manual."

7. Slow down your work speed to a level 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 for 60 seconds. If bicycling, go more slowly; if jogging or jumping rope, you should walk around and allow your heart rate to gently decrease.

8. Alternate 15- to 30-second high-intensity speed intervals with 60-second lower-intensity active rest periods for the full 15-minute program. Walk at the completion of your workout to allow your heart rate to return to normal.

Lose Weight With Tae Kwon Do

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art that emphasizes low-resistance movements that use the entire body and build lean muscle while reducing fat. This makes it an excellent way to lose weight as it does not focus on any one movement or body part, thus making it an efficient workout. What's more, the fact that it uses a variety of different movements at different intensities makes it an interval training workout, which burns a large number of calories and speeds your metabolism up.

Of course, to lose weight you also need to adjust your diet.

Instructions

1. Write down everything you eat for a few days to a week, and calculate the average amount of calories you consume per day. If you are not gaining weight, then this is your maintenance level -- the amount of calories you need to consume each day to neither gain nor lose weight.

2. Reduce your calorie intake by removing soft drinks, fast food and processed fats that come in pre-made meals.

3. Remove simple carbohydrates like white bread, white pasta and white sugar from your diet. Complex carbohydrates like whole grain breads and pastas as well as vegetables have fewer calories than simple carbohydrates, which means you can eat less and be as full. They also contain more vitamins and minerals, which are fundamental to good health.

4. Eat a lean source of protein with every meal to fill yourself up and build your muscles. Tofu, skinless chicken breast and fish are all good sources.

5. Enroll in a Tae Kwon Do class. Focus on form and building your capacity slowly.

6. Practice Tae Kwon Do on your own through shadow sparring and bag work. This work should be high-intensity, with fast movements and intervals in order to stimulate your metabolism and burn fat.

Lose Weight With Running & Diet

The best way to lose weight is to do so slowly, by making slight changes to your diet and routinely exercising. Running is one easily-accessible form of exercise, as it does not require a gym membership or any special equipment other than running shoes. This means that you can exercise no matter where you are, and do not have to commute to and from a gym or other exercise facility. As with most things fitness-related, running is a matter of starting small and slowly building up to a regular several-mile run.

Instructions

1. Decrease your portion sizes in order to consume fewer calories per day. If you want to lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day. Try ordering an appetizer when you go out to eat instead of an entree, or if you eat at home, waiting 10 minutes before you go back to the kitchen for seconds.

2. Increase your complex carbohydrate intake by eating whole grain bread, pasta and rice and eliminating white bread, pasta and rice. Also, increase your fruit and vegetable intake. You don't really need to eat a grainy carbohydrate with every meal, particularly if you replace these grainy carbohydrates with vegetables.

3. Eliminate fast food and soda from your diet. Both of these are high in calories but offer very little by way of nutrition.

4. Reduce your animal fat intake by focusing on lean meats such as skinless chicken breast and chops with the fat cut off.

5. To get started running, begin with a brief warm-up, then jog for 60 seconds, then walk for 90, and repeat for around 30 minutes each day.

6. Reduce your walking time a little bit each week while increasing your jogging time.

7. Add running time in the same manner that you walked and jogged once you are jogging for your entire workout.

8. Begin interval training, which is more effective for weight loss, once you are consistently running for 30 minutes at a time. To interval train, you need to sprint as hard as you can for a short period, then slow down to a slow run or jog for a short period, and repeat. Start with 30-second sprints and 90-second jogs, but as you become more fit, you can decrease the length of time you spend jogging until you are sprinting for 30 seconds then jogging for 30 seconds. Mix your interval training with a 30 to 40 minute run in order to maximize your calorie reduction. So, you could run at a mild pace for 10 minutes, then interval train for 20 minutes, then run for 10 more minutes. Or you could make a more complex mix of the two, where you jog for 10 minutes, interval train for 5, then jog for 5, and so on until you reach 40 minutes.

Lose Weight With A Weekly Diet Meal Plan

Battling weight gain can leave you feeling frustrated and doubtful. This is especially true if you've previously made unsuccessful weight loss attempts. Losing weight with a weekly diet meal plan involves choosing food combinations that you'll actually eat

Instructions

1. Set an appropriate weight loss goal. This helps you make beneficial meal plans. Compare your starting weight with medical recommendations based on your height, age, gender and underlying health conditions. Aim to lose a certain amount of weight each week, while adhering to safe weight loss practices.

2. Choose healthy foods that span the color spectrum and food groups. Pick foods low in calories and fat, without compromising a pleasant taste. While you don't have to love the taste of every piece of food you eat, including foods you like increases your chances of compliance with your meal plan. Consult the food guide pyramid to ensure you're not omitting suitable choices and to expose yourself to new options.

3. Rid temptation from your pantry and refrigerator. Eliminating opportunities to deviate from your meal plan can lead to greater success. This may include discarding your favorite fatty foods, or separating multi-use packages into single servings to deter you from overeating.

4. Create your meal plan. Plan out five meals for each day that include breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. Use a calorie guide and any nutritional product information to assemble meals. This helps ensure your meals don't surpass recommended calories or portions. Make a grocery list for any items you need for the week's meals. Inputting your plans into a spreadsheet program can help you stay organized.

5. Prepare for the week. Make a trip to the grocery store for essential items. Clustering your weekly food shopping into this one trip can prevent impulse buying. Spend a day separating food into smaller portions, or readying it for cooking. Examples include slicing vegetables for quick usage in salads, or mixing your own trail mix in snack bags.

Lose Weight Without Running

Many people do not like to run to lose weight. They often force themselves to board a treadmill in the gym or bear the cold temperatures outside just because they think there is no other way. But there is: This workout will make you sweat without even stepping foot on a treadmill.

In the tools listed at the right, a power sling is an apparatus that houses a medicine ball. It is a mesh bag with a rope that wraps around the wrist and contains the ball.

Instructions

Weight Daze

1. Warm up. This is performed on the dome side of a Bosu, and is quite simple. Step up and step down. Lead with the right foot for 1 minute, then switch to the left foot. Repeat for 10 minutes total.

2. Do the move called Stick the Landing. Stand behind the Bosu. Jump in the air and land on top of it, sticking the landing. Hold for a second, then propel back off and land on the floor. Perform 15 reps. Keep the knees slightly bent on both landings.

3. Perform the next exercise with two Bosus. It is called the Double Barrel Buck Shot: Line up two Bosus side by side. Stand behind them, then jump and land on them, with one foot on each. Go into a squat, then hop back off. Squat slightly, then jump back on and go back into a squat. Perform 15 reps.

4. Do another exercise that is performed on two Bosus. It is a variation of the above step. From the top landing position on the Bosus, jump in the air, spin 180 degrees and land. Then jump, spin back, land, hop off and stick the landing. That is one rep. Perform 10 full reps.

5. Do the exercise called "ice skaters." Place the Bosus about 4 to 5 feet apart to begin with. Stand on your left foot on the left Bosu. Jump in the air laterally and land on your right foot on the right Bosu. Jump back to the other foot. This is one rep. Perform 15 reps total.

6. Repeat the above exercises in a circuit format. Perform four to five circuits.

7. Perform the next exercise with the power sling. Stand on two Bosus that are about a wide-foot stance apart. Weave your right hand through the loop of the rope and grab the rope tightly in your hand. Place the other hand over the top, in a similar fashion to volleying a volleyball. Be flexible in the knees at all times. Your arms should always be straight, and always use the core to generate the force. Start off using a light medicine ball. Swing the ball in a counterclockwise direction 25 times. Switch hands and go clockwise 25 times. Switch hands and go clockwise 25 times, then switch hands again and go counterclockwise 25 times. This is one circuit. Perform four circuits.

8. For the last step, grab a 2-lb. jump rope and do 10 sets of 100, separated by 20-second breaks. For a more intense variation, try to volley between two-foot jumps and run-in-place jumps. You can alternate them in every 50 jumps.

Lose Weight Without Counting Calories Daily

Me playing Dance Dance Revolution and sweating up a storm.

This article will walk you through the process of losing weight without counting calories. These choices helped me lose all of my pregnancy weight. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. The first thing you need to do when you decide to lose weight it to take a good look at your lifestyle and the choices you are making daily. Do you eat a candy bar for a snack and guzzle Pepsi all day long? You should keep a daily journal for a week detailing what you are eating and how active you are throughout the day. You can use a paper and pencil. You do not need to go out and buy a fancy journal.

2. Next, make a conscious decision to be healthier. This means cutting out soda from your diet or limiting your soda from 12 cans a day to one can a day. If you can't live without something, make it your reward for making good choices. Replace soda and juice with water. Instead of eating greasy fast food, make an effort to pack your lunch and cook dinners at home. This is not only healthier depending on what you cook, but it is also a good way to save money.

3. Look closely at your diet and read the labels on items you purchase at the grocery store. In particular, look at how much sugar the items contain. Sugar promotes fat storage in your body because it is a simple carbohydrate. Try eating more water based food, such as fruits and vegetables. Make the meat in your meal a side dish, not the main dish. Make meals in proportion to what size you want to be. Just because you can supersize something does not mean you should. Smaller portions and more frequent meals (5 small meals a day) will keep your metabolism working throughout the day and will keep you from binge eating. When planning your meals, plan weekly menus. This organization will help keep you from picking up junk at the grocery and force you into purchasing healthier snacks.

4. Look closely at how active you are throughout the day. Do you wait for the closest parking spot so you don't have to walk? Do you take the elevator when traveling one or two stories in a building? Do you come home from work and sit on your sofa and watch television until it is time to go to bed. Fat does not burn fat. Muscle burns fat. Start lifting weights two or three times a weeks. You can use resistance bands as well. Do not try and overdo it. Concentrate on one part of the body per day (arms and back on day, legs and behind another day). Skip days between lifting to let your muscles recuperate. On the days you are not lifting weights fit in some cardio. Go on a walk after dinner or go for a bicycle ride. You should not exert yourself to the point that you are out of breath. Your body needs oxygen to burn the fat. You should exert yourself without over exerting yourself. You should get in cardio exercise three to five times a weeks at half hour intervals each time.

5. There are fun ways to lose the weight if you are not into walking/running. If you do not like exercising in public there are alternative activities. For the Nintendo Wii there are several games that monitor your exercise and help you as a personal trainer might in the comfort of your home. There is the Wii Fit, Wii My Fitness Coach, EASports Active, and much more. The games get you up and moving and active.

6. Finally, your body needs sleep in order to lose weight. If you are not sleeping or are sleeping in short bursts, this is not good for your body. People who sleep less and have high levels of stress weigh more. Try to find time each day for yourself. Use this time to relax and distress from the day. You should be getting at least eight hours of sleep a night.
