Make A Schedule To Clean An Operating Room

Clean operating rooms are imperative in performing surgical procedures safely.

The cleanliness of an operating room is imperative so that patients, doctors, nurses and other medical staff feel secure that nothing will interfere with the success of the surgeries performed in them. Because patients may be vulnerable to a variety of infections that could be present in an operating room, cleanliness is extremely important. Operating rooms should cleaned using strict guidelines with a schedule that is followed closely.

Instructions

1. Make a detailed operating time chart. Include all of the procedures scheduled for the operating room, adding an extra hour to each time period. Some procedures may take longer than anticipated, so it is important to allow enough flexibility.

2. Create a separate planning chart to list cleaning times for the operating room. Use a program such as Excel, a word processing page or hand-write it on a large piece of paper. Put the operating room number at the top of the page. Make a column for the start time on the far left side. Make columns following that for the operation number, description, finish time and notes.

3. Use the operating time chart as a guide for for the cleaning schedule. Make a duplicate of the operating time chart guide, leaving plenty of lines between each procedure listed.

4. Write "Op Room Cleaning" under the first procedure listed on the cleaning schedule. Write "Cleaning method," next to that, leaving enough space to list each type of cleaning along with the name of the person responsible. For example, "Suction clean" followed by a person's name. Continue below that with a line for each cleaning task for each specific area, such as "Damp mop floor," "Damp wipe ledges," "Spray clean work trays" and "Machine scrub floor." The more detailed the chart is, the more useful it will be in maintaining the safety of the operating room.

5. Schedule the first cleaning time on the chart for early morning. Schedule the first cleaning at least an hour prior to the first scheduled procedure.

6. Include a section for cleaning and maintaining equipment. List the name of a supervisor who will maintain the schedule and who can be notified of any discrepancies or issues regarding the cleaning schedule.

Get Slim In 30 Days

It takes dedication to get slim in 30 days.

Losing weight takes focus, dedication and lots of planning. It doesn't happen overnight, however it is possible to lose weight in a relatively short period of time using a combination of diet and exercise. If you're not grossly overweight, it's even possible to get slim in 30 days, especially if you make significant changes to how you eat and your activity level. The key is to lose weight in a healthy manner.

Instructions

1. Use an online calculator such as the Adult Energy Needs and BMI Calculator to determine how many calories you need each day for weight maintenance, and subtract 500 calories. If you burn an additional 500 calories a day through exercise, you'll lose up to two pounds a week.

2. Eliminate fast food and processed foods. Convenience foods are too high in carbohydrates and fat to be part of a slimming diet. Substitute lean sources of protein such as turkey and non-fried fish for burgers, and trade french fries for fresh fruits and vegetables.

3. Replace sugar-sweetened beverages with green tea and unsweetened coffee. The catechins in green tea boost fat-burning, and tea has no significant calories. Coffee is also calorie-free.

4. Walk or run for 30 minutes each morning, and schedule a second session for later in the day. Running burns up to 550 calories an hour, and a brisk run twice a day keeps your metabolism primed.

5. Weigh daily when you wake up in the morning. Write your weight down in a log book, and reassess on a weekly basis to make sure you're losing two pounds per week. If not, make adjustments to how many calories you're taking in and burning off.

Get A Body Builder Body For A Woman

Women, in general, have less natural testosterone and tend to carry a higher percentage of body fat than men. To build quality muscle, a woman needs to understand the type of body with which she was born and apply the proper diet and training methods according to that type.

Instructions

Ectomorphs

1. An inability to gain weight is the first indication that a woman is ectomorphic, suggesting she has little natural muscle and a small bone structure.

2. Increasing overall calorie intake should be the goal of ectomorphs attempting to build muscle. The most efficient way to do this is to drink high-calorie protein shakes between meals. Use a quality whey protein and blend in bananas, peanut butter and milk. Drink one shake between each meal and before going to bed. Drink another 30 minutes before weight training. Then, drink one protein shake mixed with water after training, along with a fast-digesting carbohydrate such as a sports drink.

3. Train a maximum of four days a week using heavy weights at 6 to 10 repetitions for each set. Limit or completely eliminate aerobic training, thus saving the additional calories for muscle growth.

Endomorphs

4. Excessive fat stores is an indication of a woman who is endomorphic. Endomorphs also typically have a larger bone structure, more natural muscle and a slower metabolism.

5. Reducing body fat is the goal of an endomorph hoping to tone her body, but she still needs additional protein to build muscle. The key is to drink a quality whey protein mixed with water immediately after each weight training session, maintain a typical diet and increase cardio training.

6. Intense cardio sessions at least three days a week are a necessity. Those who gain weight too quickly (more than 1 or 2 pounds a week) should add more cardio work. Weight sessions should include higher repetitions (10 to 12) at a quicker pace while resting as little as possible between sets (30 seconds or less).

Mesomorphs

7. Defined as a natural athletes, mesomorphs do not carry a lot of fat, are muscular and have large bones.

8. Mesomorphs should drink protein shakes before and after training. Along with the pre-training shake, such women should eat a complex carbohydrate such as a banana, apple or oatmeal. The post-training routine should include a protein shake and a simple carb such as a sports drink. Increase the caloric value and the number of shakes as necessary to achieve specific goals.

9. Mesomorphs should train with a combination of cardio and weight training and drop the cardio if significant muscular gains are not seen. Use a combination of strength and muscle building exercises, starting each exercise with 12 reps and adding weight and decreasing reps with each set; the final set should be six reps.

Handicap 660 Yard Greyhound Races

660-yard greyhound races, also called routes or 3/8ths of a mile races, are a test of speed and stamina. There are probably two or three of these distance races on each program at most dog tracks, but some venues, such as Naples-Fort Myers in Florida, will often have entire cards comprised of 660-yard greyhound races. Knowing what to look for while handicapping these contests can put some spending money in your pocket.

Instructions

1. Identify where the lead is coming from. The early speed greyhounds absolutely have to be near the front in a 660-yard race, as the dogs that make up ground late will easily run them down if they aren't. If you are able to handicap the dog that will get the jump on the rest of the field, you can often then "throw out" (not use in any of your wagers) the other early speedsters. Without the lead they will tend to fade in the latter stages of the affair.

2. Choose a late speed dog that won't be too far behind. A 660-yard race is not so long that a closing specialist has all day to make up ground. If a greyhound finds itself in last place or seventh at the first call, with only 330 yards to go, it has too many dogs to catch to have a realistic chance to win. Dogs that can come from behind but are able to get in position early to do so are much safer bets.

3. Carefully consider the one dog. The 660-yard race comes out of the starting box and then goes right into the far turn. Greyhounds that can break alertly from the one hole and outrun the traffic to that bend have a great advantage on the field, Conversely, if the one dog fails to break, the other dogs will come down on to the inside portion of the track jockeying for position, making it difficult for the one to contend early. A fast breaker in the far outside eight box also has an edge, but only if he comes out of the box with alacrity.

4. Don't try to beat the top dogs. Most tracks run mixed-grade 660-yard races since there is a shortage of true distance greyhounds nowadays. This means that some talented dogs will run up some impressive streaks of finishing first or second as they draw in with a few lesser fields. Rather than throw money away trying to find someone to knock off these standouts, attempt to find a dog at a higher price to run second or third and complete a quinnela or trifecta wager.

5. Watch for sprinters coming into the 660-yarders for the first time. If a dog is being put into a distance by its trainer, there is a reason for it. If the dog has dominated the 550-yard races by going to the lead and pulling away, it often can handle the extra yardage. Dogs that charge late in the sprints will have more time to close in the 3/8ths of a mile. However, you may be wise to let them run a race or two at their new distance before going to the windows on them. Allow them to get accustomed to breaking into a turn and running 110 yards more than they normally do.

6. Bet on the double drops. Greyhound handicappers look for dogs that are going down two grades, such as from grade A to C or from B to D. These animals have been in with tougher company in the 660-yard routes recently and may get to show their stuff versus against dogs with less ability. Plus their lines won't be very impressive, which could enable a player to get a decent payoff.

Get On An Adult Weight Loss Group On Tv

Participants of televised weight loss groups often receive support from trainers and nutritionists.

Weight loss reality television shows are all the rage right now, with everyone from stay-at-home moms to celebrities jumping on the bandwagon. Part of the reason for the popularity of these shows is the fact that while losing weight is one of the most difficult tasks to accomplish, the support that individuals lucky enough to be featured on adult weight loss group television shows receive is incredible. Getting yourself cast on one of these television shows is difficult but not impossible if you familiarize yourself with the casting process of the show you wish to appear on.

Instructions

1. Research multiple weight loss shows and decide which one would best suit your needs and lifestyle before applying to appear on the show. If you are already an avid viewer of the show you wish to be on, you should be familiar with the types of personalities that are featured on the show.

2. Attempt to be cast on the show of your choice using one of two options. You may choose to act completely naturally or you can adjust elements of your personality you think would help your chances of being cast. For example, some weight loss groups on television, such as the show "The Biggest Loser," make an appeal to "outgoing people with personality" during their casting calls. If you're a shy introvert, you may want to portray yourself as more extroverted.

3. Research the casting requirements for the show you'd like to appear on. Most information for casting regulations, auditions, submissions or casting calls is posted on the website of each television show (a simple search should lead you to the right website if you're not familiar with it already).

4. Inquire as to whether or not you need to appear in person to be cast. Many shows require you attend open auditions where a producer will interview you initially before you are advanced any further. Others, such as the weight loss show Dance Your Ass Off, allow you to send in video applications if you are not able to attend open call auditions for location or timing reasons.

5. Practice any opening statements, rehearse interview questions and generally prepare to answer any of the questions you believe may be asked of you to be cast on the show. If you are submitting a video instead of auditioning or interviewing in person, rehearse what you will say in your video many times before actually filming it.

6. Articulate your reasons for wanting to appear on the san audience of friends and family. Make sure that you have concrete and valid reasons for wanting to be on the show, and make sure that you are able to state them in an eloquent way. Have a goal in mind (for example, how many pounds you want to lose, wanting to look good for a certain event) to make sure that whoever is conducting your interview or reviewing your submission knows you are a serious candidate for the show.

7. Some shows, such as "The Last Ten Pounds Bootcamp," even require you to identify target areas of your body that you'd like to work on when applying. Preparation is key and could very well be the factor that gets you cast on an adult weight loss television series.

Make Long Flights Easier

You are headed for a wonderful vacation, but you have one slight problem: a grueling, bumpy 13-hour flight. Don't fret. If you follow these simple steps, you can get through the flight easily and stress free.

Instructions

1. Preparation is key. You will not enjoy your flight if you have not prepared properly for your journey. Make sure you have a good book with you and any other materials you would need to keep busy. Prepare a traveler's kit that has the basic necessities for your flight. And above all, get a good night's sleep.

2. Make sure you go into the plane fully willing to leave all your worries behind. Nothing makes a worse flight than worrying about all the things you have left undone.

3. Set up your space, making sure you're comfortable. Inflate your pillow and relax. Start by reading a good book and adjusting your seat. Remove your shoes if you feel constrained by them.

4. Make sure you are drinking water constantly. Avoid eating overly greasy meals, but do force yourself to eat properly. Make sure you are chewing gum when the plane takes off to avoid ear aches.

5. Try to sleep a good portion of the plane trip, because it will help you to adjust more to the time difference. In between this, it is a good idea to take short walks to improve circulation in your legs and arms. Try some stretching. Above all, enjoy the experience and all that it has to offer.

Make Rubber Slipper Sandals

Make your own rubber sandals and wear them anywhere.

Make your own rubber slipper sandals and enjoy the comfort of being barefoot while protecting your feet. Use these sandals to lounge around the house or to practice your running sport. These shoes are an alternative to your regular shoes, offering protection against sharp objects while giving you the freedom of being barefoot.

Instructions

1. Place your foot on a white piece of paper so that your entire foot fits on the paper. Press down on your foot to flatten it a little. Trace the outer lines of your foot. You want your trace to be slightly bigger than your foot.

2. Remove your foot and pick up the paper. Smooth out the curve of your trace, and make the toe area a curve instead of the toe bumps, as if you were drawing the sole of your shoe instead of your foot.

3. Cut around the outside line of your trace to give you a little extra room. Turn the tracing over and step on it with your other foot to see if it fits. If it is significantly different, make another tracing for this foot. Place the cut-out on your 3/16-inch thick polypropylene rubber sole material. Trace the outside of the pattern with a pencil, and cut out the sole with heavy scissors. If you are using only one sole pattern, flip the pattern over and cut out a sole for the other foot. Otherwise, use the tracing you made for the other foot.

4. Step on the soles and make a mark between the first and second toe with a magic marker. Make two marks on either side of your ankle just in front of your ankle bone.

5. Punch 1/8-inch holes at the marks with a leather hole punch. Punch the side holes about 1/4 inch from the edge on the marks you made. Avoid using a knife or nail to make the holes, as this will lead to tearing.

6. Push one end of your lace material through the toe hole from the top to the bottom. Make a knot in the lace on the bottom. Push another piece of lace from top to bottom through each ankle hole, and knot it on the bottom side of the sole. Cut the ankle laces to the same size with scissors. Cut the front tie lace to the size needed to meet the side-wrapped laces, and tie around them.

7. Place your foot in the sandal, and wrap the side ankle laces around your ankle in Roman-wrap method. Tie the front tie lace to the lace around your ankle.

Hike To Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is an ancient city perched high in the Andes Mountains in South America. Accessed via the Inca Trail in Peru, the city is a four-day hike from Cuzco, along a trail that has been used for thousands of years. In recent years, the Peruvian government has begun to regulate tourism to the area, so preparations for the hike are necessary.

Instructions

1. Book a tour. To protect the environment of the Inca Trail, trekkers are not allowed to hike to Machu Picchu without a permit and a tour group. In order to make the trip, you must book a tour with a licensed agency in Peru. As a part of a tour group, you will have a guide and porters who will take care of arrangements and accommodations on the hike.

2. Plan in advance. Because of the popularity and natural splendor of Machu Picchu, it is a popular hiking destination. There are only a certain number of spaces available on the trail each day, and spots during the prime hiking season fills up quickly. Begin planning your trip at least 6 months in advance to ensure that you are able to get a permit.

3. Prepare physically. The hike to Machu Picchu is lengthy and physically demanding. As soon as you have dates booked for your trip, start preparing your body for the hike. Endurance training is a good idea; try running, weightlifting and hill climbing. If there are ski hills in your area, try hiking with a pack to prepare yourself for the Machu Picchu hike.

4. Acclimatize to the altitude. Arrive in Cuzco a few days before your hike is scheduled to begin. The hike to Machu Picchu will take you to high altitudes, which can cause trouble if you are not acclimatized. A few days at altitude will give your body the chance to get used to the elevation, which will make your hike easier.

5. Pack light. On your hike, a porter will carry equipment and your backpack, but resist the urge to pack everything you own. Conditions on the trail to Machu Picchu can be dirty, and you run the risk of damage. Be sure that your tour company treats porters properly and humanely; watch for signs of abuse or mistreatment. Bring a day pack to carry the items you’ll need during the day, including a camera, jacket, snacks, and a pair of non-hiking trail shoes to relieve your feet.

Make Adderall Work Better

Follow your Adderall prescription exactly as your doctor wrote it.

For Adderall takers who need a bigger kick from their medication, the best solution is a longterm one rather than a quick fix. Adderall is a prescription medication commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. This stimulant works by causing increased production of hormones in the brain related to attention and behavior and preventing fast reabsorption of these chemicals to provide increased concentration abilities for individuals who need it.

Instructions

1. Take Adderall exactly as prescribed. Many Adderall users take the drug only when they feel that they need it. However, failing to follow your doctor's instructions can lead to decreased efficiency of the drug or even harmful side effects. For the best results, adhere to your doctor's prescribed regimen.

2. Eat at least one hour before taking Adderall and do not eat again for two hours afterward. Consuming food too soon before or after taking Adderall can decrease absorption of the drug and thus decrease effectiveness. Avoid consuming large quantities of Vitamin C in particular when taking Adderall, as the acid in this vitamin can negatively affect absorption of the drug into the system.

3. Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables every day and limit empty calories like soda and candy. Stay hydrated and exercise regularly. Get at least seven hours of sleep every night, but avoid oversleeping. The healthier your body is, the better your natural ability to concentrate will be. This in turn should make your medication more effective as well.

Keep Your Self Confidence

Keep Your Self Confidence

Keeping your self confidence is extremely difficult to do. Insecurity and fears can contribute to lack of confidence in oneself. We all have ups and downs, and waves that we ride in life. However, when things are going wrong it's difficult to keep your self confidence. It can be hard to remain confident in general. Building confidence requires strong will and determination. It requires proper mental process of the mind.

Being confident can contribute to a better lifestyle. As cliche as it sounds, gaining confidence starts by having self belief in yourself. If you don't believe in who you are, then find out who you really are. If you're not believing in yourself, there are reasons why. One you're lying to yourself. Two you're not challenging yourself enough. Three you're not accepting the possibilities and things you're capable of doing. Do you challenge yourself in life? Do you just take the easy way? Are you blind sided by what you're capable of? Because you can't give yourself false confidence. Your insecurities will be exposed eventually. You got to learn to be honest and real with yourself. You can't be afraid to do what is hard, because you're afraid of the outcome.

You got to think of things in a different perspective. What are we living our lives for? Who are we living our lives for? We're here on a one way ticket, there's no turning back. So instead of thinking of all the reasons of how things can go wrong, start thinking about what really have to lose. You don't have anything to lose. Because you're not stuck in one stop, or time frame forever. You move forward, and that is what life does as well. It moves forward and it can move pass you. I think to gain confidence, it means to take control of the moments and opportunities that present itself. You can only control what is there. Things are there for the taking. Just reach out and grab them. Seize opportunities in life and keep your mind going forward.

Instructions

1. Brain wash your thinking techniques. You'll have to practice positive thinking techniques. Specifically when things are going bad for you. This will take time and will power. Some people just have the natural instincts to assume the worst. Block out what went wrong, and focus on what can go right beforehand. Learn to reverse your thinking mechanisms. Take a deep breath, relax, and think about the positive alternatives first. You can't play a cynic. Just maybe you can clear your mind and fix the things wrong. You'll develop more confidence if you can begin to think that way. Everyone has set backs, but become more determined. When you have setbacks, want something even more. Have a quenching thirst until you achieve the things you want. Things don't come easy all the time. Pride and determination will only transpire into confidence. It's hard to teach that, sometimes it comes down to have much you want something. How much you want to improve yourself. If you don't quit, you've never failed to succeed.

2. Put yourself in positive situations. Mind power can do a lot to maintain confidence. When things go wrong, you'll need to rely on that will power to keep your confidence. What makes it easier is when you put yourself in positive situations. You'll develop more happiness in your life. When you're miserable and depressed, its hard to maintain confidence. Nearly impossible to do so. Do things that make you feel good. Do things that make you laugh and enjoy life more. Enjoy the nature of life, or explore in new interests to help keep your mind fresh. Experimenting in more things that are out of your comfort zone will definitely breed more confidence.

Think of change. Just subtle change, you don't have to make drastic changes. Change can be a scary concept, because it requires you to go outside your comfort zone. The not knowing involves fear, which translates into lack of confidence. To gain confidence you have to face your fears. Fears cause insecurity and lack of confidence. If you can't battle your demons, you'll remain hot and cold with your emotions in life. You'll continue to just ride the wave, and your emotions will just play off situations. Instead of running away from a problem, face it with a vengeance. Because no matter how bad it goes, no one can take away the fact you were fearless. Start making every minute of your life more meaningful. Because life can pass you by anytime.

3. Don't put too much stress and work into your life. Too much work and stress won't allow your mind to process things efficiently. It can only help but damper your confidence mentally. Don't underestimate mental confidence. Your brain needs proper care. Your mind needs its breaks. Have an equal amount of work and joy into your life. You definitely need a balance. Not too much of one, and not enough of the other. Work can be really good for your confidence. Too much can cause stress, which will hurt your confidence. Try to avoid stress more effectively in your life. By either avoiding the things that cause stress, or handling stress a little better.

4. Take mental breaks. This requires not really just removing yourself from stress, but taking breaks in general. Breaks from everything that is routine in your life. Taking mental breaks will breathe new and fresh air into your life. That provides confidence in yourself. These breaks can be very simple things. For example, instead of watching tv, read a few books. Instead of listening to rock 'n roll, listen to new wave. I feel doing too much of the same causes anxiety and depression in ones life.

5. Learn to adjust to criticism. Adjust to criticism and hateful remarks thrown your way. I know this is hard, no one likes to hear negative feed back about themselves. What one says about you, doesn't make up who you are. What makes up who you are is how you carry yourself in life. Use criticism for a few things. For one, use it to motivate yourself. Doesn't it make you mad when someone puts you down? Then show them by proving them wrong. More importantly, prove something to yourself more than anyone else. Because at the end of the day, that is all that matters. You got to set a high level of self integrity and set the bar of what is good enough for you.

You can't allow others to influence your confidence. I think that is the problem we see in our culture today. Everyone follows a certain society code, and they develop confidence from what others say is good. Be more of who you are, and not what society says you should be. Because if you're not true to who you are when you follow others. Wouldn't you rather lead, than follow in life? How much confidence can you really have when let others dictate who you should be? You're just being molded into something what society and other people have dictated. Is that how you want to live life? Living it how others say you should, or think is good? Everyone has a different view of that, so there is no point. Being insecure really is overrated, when take your feelings out of the equation. You see there really isn't much purpose to feeling that way.

6. Do the things you enjoy and find hobbies in your life. I probably could have saved a lot of valuable time, by just stating to find a passion in life. That can be religion, love, a hobby, but find something. Finding hobbies in your life are healthy ways to develop more confidence. It's quite simple why, because it's something you enjoy doing. Just bringing more joy and pleasure in life gives you peace of mind. It gives you more confidence than you probably realize. Just exploring in the things that provide you pleasure will give you more confidence. When you feel joy, you think less about your problems. You think less about your doubts or fears. You just live your life, and start overcoming obstacles in your life as if they're routine and automatic.

Get The Tank Beats Everything Achievement In "Halo Reach"

"Halo: Reach" offers some intense achievements for gamers.

The compulsion to earn achievement points among this generation of gamers isn't far removed from the heady days of striving to get the most points on an arcade game. The bragging rights are similar to having your initials on the arcade screen for all to see, except with achievements, the world is witness rather than just the locals. "Halo: Reach," for instance, is prime for achievement-hunting because it's one of Xbox 360's most popular games.

Instructions

1. Start a campaign on the ninth level -- "The Package" -- in either solo or co-op and set the difficulty to "Legendary."

2. Make your way toward the tank on foot. Move cautiously, paying extreme mind to your surroundings. Move slowly around corners and take out the turrets and ground forces before they have a a chance to fire at you, or have a co-op partner take them out in a hijacked enemy vehicle or on foot before advancing with the tank.

3. Shoot down the banshees flying over the artillery guns as you make your way up the hill. Bombard the enemy artillery guns with rounds from the tank and blow up the three ghosts lurking around the corner.

4. Take out the wraith nearest your position and the plasma cannons in the mountains from a safe distance (take cover behind the rock and fire or have your teammate use the designated marksman rifle to pick them off). Move up slowly to the tank and take out the mounted guns, the ghost and any remaining enemies.

5. Remain in the tank and cross over the stream and uphill to earn the "Tank Beats Everything" achievement.

Make Enchilada Casserole

Tastes like restaurant enchiladas with half the effort!

Enchiladas are a popular entree, but filling and rolling individual enchiladas can take a lot of preparation time. Here is an easier way to make enchiladas, using a casserole approach, that can take an hour or less. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray. Set oven to 360 degrees. Prepare the enchilada sauce according to directions on the packet. Simmer for five minutes, then remove from heat. Spread a small amount of enchilada sauce over the bottom of the dish.

2. Melt enough shortening over medium high heat to cover at least 2 inches at the bottom of the pan. With the tongs, dip a corn tortilla into the shortening and cook for a few seconds and allow to drain for a moment.

3. Now dip the tortilla into the sauce.

4. Start with a layer of tortillas, then filling. Continue with layering until the stack reaches just below the rim of the casserole dish.

5. Pour the remaining sauce over the stack and cover with cheese.

6. Cover the dish tightly with foil and cook in 360-degree oven for at least 25 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly. Let the casserole rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Improve Sprint Speed

Improve your acceleration technique to give you a competitive advantage.

Sprint speed is not only a necessity in track and field, enhancing your ability to sprint quickly will be of benefit in nearly every sport. The majority of amateur athletes and fitness enthusiasts concentrate nearly all of their training with an aerobic focus, to improve stamina and endurance. However, focusing some effort on improving sprint speed will increase your lactate threshold, assist your endurance training and enhance your performance on the track, field, pitch or court.

Instructions

1. Work on your technique. Executing the correct sprint technique can make big differences in your speed.

Through the acceleration phase, drive your knees up hard and swing your opposing arms backward as you stride. Keep a straight line from your head through your torso and legs. Start leaning forward at a 45-degree angle for maximum trajectory with your center of gravity slightly ahead of you. Keep your upper body relaxed and your trunk fixed. As you accelerate, gradually rise into an upright position, keeping your body in a straight line.

For maximum sprint speed after the acceleration phase, keep the lead knee driving forward with the trail leg flexing underneath so the heel moves towards the buttock before driving forward and exchanging legs. Keep upright: Imagine a pole running from the top of your head straight down into the ground. Your arms should have an aggressive hammering action, but your shoulders and upper body must remain relaxed. Land on the ball of your foot with your weight directly below you; landing in front will slow you down. Keep your ground-contact time as minimal as possible to increase leg speed; imagine you are running on hot coals.

2. Undertake strength and power training. Resistance training such as weightlifting will help build the explosive muscle fibers needed for sprinting. Get into the gym twice a week, and focus on compound lifts that target a number of muscle groups such as squats and power cleans.

Dynamic sprint exercises can also help develop strength and power. Sprint short distances uphill, or pull a weighted sled, which is particularly effective for improving your acceleration phase.

3. Improve core strength. A strong core enables you to keep your trunk rigid when you run, allowing more of the force applied to the ground with your legs to carry you forward rather than being lost through a loose torso. Add variations of the plank to your warm-up and cool down, and make ab circuits a regular feature in your workout regimen.

4. Sprint regularly. Adding fast strides to the end of training session, or performing sprint interval training on a regular basis, will train your neuromuscular system to fire quicker and more efficiently.

Make A Round Table Runner

A round table runner can be used on any table, but is especially well-suited to a round table. You can create this project with wool felt and a few basic embroidery stitches, making it appropriate for a beginner. The designs on the runner make it suitable for most any decor. Make several and change the colors to enhance your seasonal or holiday decorations.

Instructions

1. Spread the newspaper out on your work surface. Using a compass, draw a 15-inch circle on the newspaper. This is your round table runner base pattern. Place the heart-shaped cookie cutter on the newspaper and trace around it. This will be the pattern for your flowers. Cut out the newspaper patterns.

2. Place the off-white wool felt on your work surface. Fold the felt in half. Pin the round table runner base pattern through both layers of the off-white wool felt. Cut the round table runner base pieces out.

3. Place the light rose wool felt on your work surface and pin the heart-shaped pattern. Cut the heart-shaped felt out. Repeat seven more times.

4. Place the light dusty green wool felt on your work surface and pin the silk rose leaf. Cut around the shape of the rose leaf. Repeat 15 more times for a total of 16 green wool felt leaves.

5. Place the scrap of light yellow wool felt on your work surface and trace around a penny eight times. Cut out the circle shapes for your flower centers.

6. Set one round table runner base aside. On the remaining round table runner base, space the light rose colored hearts around the outside edge with the top bumps of the hearts a 1/2 inch from the base edge and the point of the hearts facing toward the center. Pin the hearts in place.

7. Slip the ends of two leaves under opposite sides of a heart at an angle and pin in place. Repeat for the remaining flower hearts. Place the yellow flower centers over the point of the hearts and pin in place.

8. Embroider the pieces to the round table runner base. Cut an arm's length of floss to match the color of the piece you are embroidering and separate the floss into two strands. Thread the embroidery needle. Embroider a blanket stitch around the heart flowers and a whip stitch around the leaves and the flower centers (see Resources).

9. Place the embroidered round table runner base on top of the other round table runner base piece. Match the edges even and pin. Embroider a blanket stitch around the round table runner base edge, connecting the two layers together.

Get Rid Of Constipation Without Taking Laxatives

Improving your diet can help alleviate constipation.

The use of laxatives can disrupt your body's natural rhythm and can be habit-forming, according to the Mayo Clinic, so individuals should attempt natural remedies first. Having fewer than three bowel movements within seven days often signals constipation. While infrequent bowel activity is a common sign of constipation, other symptoms can include hard stools or straining during stools.

Instructions

1. Eat generous portions of fruits and vegetables. Healthful selections such as fruits and vegetables are loaded with fiber and help end constipation naturally. Aim for five servings of each per day.

2. Eat the recommended 20 to 35 grams of fiber per day. If you're not able to consume that amount, make up the difference by using a fiber supplement.

3. Start or end your day with exercise. Physical activity promotes regular bowel activity by stimulating intestinal contractions. Wake up earlier each morning to work out or schedule your routines for the evening hours. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise daily.

4. Drink up. Being dehydrated affects your body's ability to pass soft stools. Drink plenty of fluids such as water, juice or teas to encourage softer stools.

5. Pass on the dairy. Certain digestive problems such as irritable bowel syndrome and lactose intolerance worsen after consuming dairy products and may cause bouts of diarrhea or constipation. Cut back on dairy to see if your symptoms improve. Taking natural digestive enzymes before eating or drinking dairy products may prevent constipation.

Get Rid Of An Old Pool Table

Get Rid of an Old Pool Table

If you've recently purchased a new pool table, or are just looking to clear some space in your den, you might be thinking about getting rid of an old pool table. Removing that old pool table is not quite as easy as throwing out an old hat, but once you factor in its condition and contact the right people, it'll be out of the house before you know it.

Instructions

1. Sell the old pool table if it's still in good condition. This can be done by advertising in the newspaper, selling it on an Internet auction site or asking around to find someone who might be interested. Keep in mind that you may be responsible for actually getting the pool table to whoever buys it.

2. Refurbish your old pool table and then sell it. If it's seen better days but is in the kind of condition that can easily be fixed, you might be able to get rid of it and make a profit at the same time. One great way to check its condition is to roll a cue ball in a straight line from various points around the table. If the ball doesn't roll straight, the table probably has structural damage that will be difficult and costly to fix. But if it's just a matter of few scratches here and there on the side of the table, refurbishing it could be fairly easy (reference No. 1).

3. Give the old pool table away. It might seem a little raggedy in the remodeled den, but it might work just fine in a local community center. If they don't want it, ask friends and family if they're interested before sending it out with the trash.

4. If the pool table is too worn out to be used anymore, call local garbage removal services. A pool table is not something that can be put out on the curb and expected to be picked up. In many cities, if you call, there's a good chance they will come out to get it--or at least they'll tell you who can.

Increase Mental Focus

Mental focus means clearing the mind and focusing on one thing. People have very busy lives these days, and busy minds often lack mental focus. When the mind spends too much time multitasking, some important things get forgotten. This is why mental focus is so important. Most successful athletes, writers and musicians have to ability to focus mentally, so let's take a cue from them.

Instructions

1. Start a routine of meditating each day. Meditation teaches the mind to focus, because to meditate one must be able to clear the mind. Try a meditation that focuses on one object, like a lit candle's flame or a crystal. Focus on that one item until that is all that is in the mind. Do this often until it seems natural.

2. Concentrate on breathing. This is another mediation technique that can be used to gain more mental focus. Count your breaths in and out, and be sure to breathe at even intervals. Breathing techniques teach the mind to focus strictly on one event, blocking out all else.

3. Practice performing only one task at a time. Start a routine of doing only work, only housecleaning, only watching television. Teach the mind and body not to multitask.

Increase Lean Body Mass

Muscle mass speeds up your metabolism because muscles require more calories to sustain.

Besides helping you look and feel better, a lean body makes you stronger and gives you more energy. Increasing your lean body mass brings your body to its highest overall potential. Getting lean and staying fit is no secret. You can build lean body mass through a specific diet and proper training. Over time, you can achieve the results you want. Self-discipline is required to stick to the plan and follow it through.

Instructions

1. Engage in a high-intensity resistance-training routine. Work all of the large muscle groups, including your quads, back, shoulders, legs, hamstrings, arms and chest. Start with a light weight and do a warm-up set for 10 to 12 reps. Increase the weight by 5 to 10 lb. and do another set for 10 to 12 reps. Continue this process until you find a weight that allows you to fail at around eight repetitions. This is your target weight. The amount of weight greatly varies depending on the person and the exercise. When you find your target weight for each exercise, record it and strive to surpass it in reps next time. When you surpass it, increase the target weight by 5 to 10 lb. Do a full-body workout three times a week.

2. Eat lean proteins and complex carbohydrates. Reduce saturated fats and cut out trans fats completely. Fish, chicken breast, lean beef, nuts, beans and yogurt are all examples of lean proteins. Complex carbohydrates, such as breads, rice and oatmeal, give your body sufficient energy that it needs to live. Whole-grain breads and brown rice have more fiber than white breads and rice, but both are complex carbs. Eat vegetables daily with your meals and eat fruits for breakfast and snacks.

3. Engage in a regular cardiovascular routine. Run, walk, jog, swim or bike at least three times a week for 30 minutes. Cardiovascular exercise helps your body shed fat and burn calories. Cardio also increases your endurance, strengthens your heart and improves the overall condition of your health.

4. Increase your consumption of essential fatty acids. Omega-6 and -3 fatty acids are necessary components of not only building lean muscle mass, but also overall normal growth and brain function. These acids are not found in the body naturally. They must be consumed in the foods you eat. These acids are found in fish oil, flax oil, pumpkin seeds, sesame oil, hemp oil, walnuts, pistachios, eggs, leafy green vegetables and soybeans.

5. Drink plenty of water. Water is necessary for all healthy bodily functions, including weight loss and muscle gain. Water helps your muscles recover from the strain they undergo in weight training and moves the oxygen flow throughout your body. When you are hydrated, you are also able to quell false hunger cravings that may spur from dehydration.

6. Rest and give your body adequate time to recover. Do not over-train. Rest and recovery are important factors in developing muscle growth. If you do not allow your muscles to heal properly with adequate rest, you can hinder your results and cause harm to your body. Only lift weights every other day.

Make A Quilted Round Table Runner

Make a Quilted Round Table Runner

Many people have a regular table runner in a rectangular shape that runs the entire length of the table. Maybe you have a round table and a rectangular table runner doesn't look right. Make your own round quilted table runner that will look a lot nicer on your table. Making a quilted table runner is not too difficult. Even if you have no experience with quilting, this is a good project to begin learning to quilt by machine.

Instructions

1. Find the exact center of your table. Measure out from the center of the table how far you want your round table runner to come.

2. Lay out your two fabrics, one on top of the other, with the top fabric facing downward.

3. Cut a length of string that is equal to the radius of the circle from the measurement you took from your table, adding 2 inches. Tie the string around the chalk.

4. Find the middle of your fabric. Place the end of the string in the center of your fabric and hold it tightly with your thumb. Draw a circle with the chalk working around the circle.

5. Cut out the circles of fabric. Use the fabric as a guide to cut out a circle of quilt batting.

6. Layer the fabric and the quilt batting together with the quilt batting in between. Make sure the right side of the fabric is facing out. Use pins to hold the fabric in place.

7. Trace out a quilting design on the fabric using the chalk. Use a ruler to create straight edges or use special quilting design patterns.

8. Thread your sewing machine with thread that matches the fabric. Start in the center of the table runner and begin stitching, following the traced quilting design and working your way out toward the edge of the table runner.

9. Trim all the threads from your quilting. Pin the binding around the edge of the round table runner.

10. Sew all the way around the binding to attach it to your table runner.

Instructions

1. The very first and most reliable method does not begin with a diet, it does not begin with exercises- it begins with you. This is one of the fastest ways to lose weight fast. Most people who happen to be overweight are in this position because of a lack of encouragement. Do yourself a favor and surround yourself with photos you admire of that certain someone, a model, a celebrity, or anyone else you may look up to. Every time you are feeling lazy or discouraged, look over those motivational things that surround you, and get back on track naturally.

2. Do not keep absolutely everything in your head, but take notes of any little detail in a notepad. Educate yourself and keep in mind it takes 3,500 calories to gain or lose a pound. With that said, take note of everything you eat throughout the day, and begin eliminating those things that are not necessary in your life. Any small chocolate bar contains no less than 200 calories (typically) and a huge percentage of fat and sugars, so do NOT just count the calories alone.

3. Talking about motivation reminders, go online and search for "before and after pictures", where you will receive many helpful websites of people struggling JUST LIKE YOU. Join a web forum and start a conversation about your challenges and goals, and read everyone else's postings about their successes and failures. Furthermore, watch shows like The Biggest Loser on TV. Those heroes burn an average of 4,000 calories daily. Of course, you should never trey to imitate their success since they are being watched by professionals and everyone's body and metabolism works differently. But at the very least the shows serves to keep you highly motivated, and remind you that you are not the only one struggling for some weight loss help. If they can do it, what makes you think you cant? Develop the mind of a soldier and stick to it.

4. Now, this is very important. Never torture yourself. In other words, if you fall off the wagon, this is perfectly okay! In fact, reward yourself once every two weeks by eating a small, controlled portion of the foods you miss and love, just make sure you get back on track the next day. This will ensure that you do not quit altogether because you are satisfying that sweet tooth while still keeping yourself under control. Install A Powered Subwoofer

Installing a powered subwoofer in your vehicle will provide a substantial improvement in low-frequency sound reproduction. Powered subwoofers feature an integrated amplifier, speaker driver and custom enclosure, designed for maximum performance. In addition to being an "all-in-one" solution, using a powered subwoofer will eliminate much of the research and guesswork associated with installing the needed components separately.

Instructions

1. Open the vehicle's hood and disconnect the black-colored negative battery cable from the battery. Set it aside and out of the way.

2. Determine the appropriate mounting area for the powered subwoofer; ensuring the mounting area allows for adequate ventilation needed to cool the integrated amplifier. Consider mounting the subwoofer within the trunk or cargo area. Although low-frequency bass sounds are less directional than higher frequencies, the location of the subwoofer may have an impact on performance.

3. Remove the required interior trim molding, located on the same side as the vehicle's battery, using an appropriate size and type screwdriver. Examine the underside of the dash panel and locate an existing wiring hole that leads to the engine compartment.

Wiring

4. Route the large gauge red-colored amplifier power cable through the existing wiring hole. If you cannot find an existing wiring hole in the firewall, drill an appropriately sized hole and add a rubber grommet to accommodate the power wire; be careful not to damage surrounding components when drilling.

5. Route the power cable to the battery area, but away from heat sources and moving mechanical parts.

6. Strip 3/8 inch of insulation from the power cable end and crimp on one of the ring connectors supplied with the amplifier kit. Cut the cable 1 foot or less from the ring terminal and strip the insulation from both of the newly formed ends. Secure both cable ends to the fuse holder supplied with the wiring kit.

7. Route the power cable underneath the carpet or trim molding to the mounting area for the subwoofer. If your vehicle does not feature a rear-mounted power antenna with easy access to the turn-on lead, you must remove the stereo from the dash to connect the small gauge "REM" turn-on lead supplied with the wiring kit to the radio's switched power wire; refer to your vehicle's repair manual for specific radio removal instructions and wiring diagrams. If you have an aftermarket car stereo with one or several RCA outputs, remove the radio, the interior molding opposite to the power cable and route the RCA cables from the subwoofer mounting area to the rear of the head unit.

8. Connect the RCA cables to the rear of the head unit and reinstall the stereo. Certain aftermarket head units may include RCA outputs specifically designed for subwoofer use. If you are connecting the subwoofer to an original factory stereo, connect the supplied high-level signal wiring harness to the appropriate left and right speaker wires using wire splice taps.

9. Connect the remote turn-on lead to the appropriate switched lead for the rear-mounted power antenna, if equipped, using the vehicle repair manual as a guide. Use this connection option for the subwoofer's remote turn-on lead to avoid removing the head unit when dealing with a factory stereo.

10. Mount the subwoofer to the designated area. Consider securing the subwoofer to the vehicle with self-tapping screws to avoid damage to the unit or possible injury during a collision.

11. Examine the mounting area and locate a suitable ground connection for the negative cable. Cut the ground cable to the appropriate size and install ring terminals on both ends of the cable. Install a ring terminal on only one end of the ground cable if the subwoofer unit includes setscrew-type power connections.

12. Install the negative cable to a suitable metal ground point on the vehicle using a drill and self-tapping screw. Use a wire brush or steel wool to remove any paint on the ground connection area before making the ground connection to the vehicle.

13. Connect the RCA cables or high-level signal wiring harness to the subwoofer unit, followed by the ground, positive and remote connections. Install the supplied fuse into the power cable fuse holder, located near the battery.

14. Connect the power cable to the battery. Vehicles that use side-post battery connections may require a special post adapter to connect additional cables to the battery. Batteries that use clamp-style battery connectors do not require an adapter.

Testing

15. Check the wiring connections and reconnect the negative battery cable. Adjust the subwoofer's "gain" control to the lowest setting.

16. Turn on the vehicle's stereo and adjust the volume to the highest setting, before the point of audible distortion.

17.Adjust the "gain" setting on the subwoofer in an incremental fashion, before the point of audible distortion. When making adjustments to the gain, crossover or other settings, consider using test music that includes a great deal of dynamic bass.

18. Turn off the stereo and reinstall any remaining interior components previously removed to complete the installation.

Host A Campfire Storytelling Party

Host a Campfire Storytelling Party

If Yellowstone or Yosemite aren't on the current agenda, then skip the big fish stories and bug spray and host a campfire storytelling party in your backyard.

Instructions

1. Invitation: Send Girl Scout cookies or a miniature box of graham crackers with a note inviting guests for an evening filled with stories, snacks and s'mores.

2. Atmosphere: think campground with a roaring bonfire, logs and rocks that form a circle around chairs. For additional lighting, go for hanging lanterns and candles. For extra credit, have blankets and sweatshirts on hand in case it gets a little chilly.

3. Snacks: Set up a s'more station with mini s'more grills or let guests heat their marshmallows over the open flame. Either way, include the essentials of cinnamon and regular graham crackers, chocolate and regular marshmallows, a variety of chocolate bars (milk, dark or white) and maybe a few more ingredients for decadence like caramel syrup, peanut butter or sliced bananas. If hosting a meal instead of snacks, it's all about the grill baby! See the resources below for grilling menus and recipes.

4. Storytelling: Put a twist on traditional storytelling and have guests place one topic and one key word into a hat when they arrive. Then let each guest pick two pieces of paper from the hat. Once everyone is seated, have one person start the story. They must include the two things that they drew from the hat into their story. When they feel that they have shared enough, they pass it on to the next person, who picks up the story where it was left off. They too must include their two items, and story continues like this around the circle.

5. Channel Your Inner Boy Scout: Test your knot-tying knowledge. Cut lengths of rope and print out a few knot diagrams (see resources). Give each contestant a piece of rope, call out the knot they are to tie and start the timer. (30 seconds is good.) The person who finishes the quickest gets a prize (like a Swiss army knife or pen).

Make A Schedule For My Child To Follow

Making a schedule for your child to follow can add consistency and predictability to your child's day, activity or learning. Behavioral problems and tantrums can be reduced---or eliminated---through the use of a carefully planned schedule of activities, deadlines and goals created specifically for a child. Such a schedule may also teach your child effectively create and follow a schedule to achieve goals and fulfill specific purposes. That, in turn, can help prepare your child for success in any endeavor or environment.

Instructions

1. Create a list of all the activities, subjects, objectives, lessons or routines that must covered by the schedule for your child.

2. Determine the start time and end time for the entire schedule. A schedule can be made for specific days, like school days and weekend days, or to help children reach objectives such as mastering a school subject, reading a book, completing a school project or cleaning their rooms.

3. Create an "open" rough draft of the child's schedule on a large piece of white paper, a dry erase board, or a chalk board. Some smaller lap size dry erase boards can be found in the school supply section of your local stores or through online retailers. An "open" rough draft means that you fill in the times that are not negotiable like the start time, lunch time, dinner time or due dates for projects.

4. Schedule a time with your child to fill in the other parts of the schedule together. It is usually a good idea to provide a healthy snack and drink while creating the schedule. This will make planning and scheduling have a more positive association in your child's mind. The snack can increase alertness and keep your child's hands and mouth busy as you explain that you are making a schedule.

5. Post the schedule in a place that is easy for the child to see and access and provide a hard copy to the child. It is a good idea to laminate the schedule for small children, Use a home laminator or visit an office supply store for sheet lamination, which is very reasonably priced. Lamination will make the schedule water proof, prevent it from getting folded or ripped, and will offer the added benefit of allowing your child or you to check off the schedule with a dry erase marker as you and the child follow it.

Get Ready For Labor

If you're preparing for labor, you may feel both eager and anxious, especially if this is your first child. Even women who have children can feel nervous because you never know what kinds of complications may arise. You can get ready for labor through proper preparation. Be sure to think of all possible problems and plan to expect the unexpected. When you plan ahead, you'll be ready to welcome your baby into the world with open arms.

Instructions

1. Take a labor and birthing class. Most hospitals or medical centers offer at least one type of labor and birthing class to help parents prepare for birth. The Lamaze and Bradley methods are some of the most popular styles. Lamaze focuses on breathing and relaxation techniques, while Bradley method focuses on natural childbirth with the involvement of the father. You may also want to consider hypobirthing, which offers relaxation techniques to hypnotize any pain away. Hypnobirthing classes are not as popular as the other methods. You are more likely to find these classes in large cities. If you cannot find classes near you, consider a home study course.

2. Watch videos and read books. In addition to taking a class, you should learn as much as you can about the birthing process. In particular, learn about what will happen, what could go wrong, what you can do to prevent things from going wrong and what your options are if something does happen.

3. Write a birth plan. Your birth plan can let the hospital staff know how you want to have birth and what you want to do in the event that something goes wrong. For example, you'll want to think about whether or not you want to use pain medication and what position you'd like to be in when you deliver your baby. Think of your birth plan as just a guideline--you never know what will happen and should be prepared to make changes if necessary.

4. Make a contact list. Be sure to write down the names and numbers of family and friends who want to know about the birth of your baby. Keep this list in your wallet so that you don't forget anyone the day of delivery.

5. Pack your bag. About a month before your due date, you should pack a bag to take with you to the hospital. For mom, pack a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and soap, pajamas, slippers, clean underwear, a hair tie if you have long hair and a hair brush. If you'll be breastfeeding, you may want nursing bras, a breast pump, breastfeeding pads and nipple cream or ointment. You may also want to pack a few healthy snacks in case you deliver your baby at a time when the hospital cafeteria is closed. Don't forget to bring clothes for both you and the baby to wear home. The baby may also need a blanket and some warm pajamas. It's also a good idea to pack some things for the baby's father, such as pajamas and toiletries. Also, before you leave for the hospital, you will need to verify you have your insurance card and ID. The hospital will need these to check you in.

Kneel Down After Bilateral Knee Replacement

Kneel Down After Bilateral Knee Replacement

Most of us take kneeling for granted. But for anyone who has had one knee-or both knees-replaced for various health reasons, the act of kneeling can be painful, frightening or completely impossible. However, most doctors do not prohibit it, and there may be times when a patient feels it is necessary, especially if he or she lives alone. Before attempting to kneel, you will need to think through the process to ensure success, and avoid injury to the new knees.

Instructions

1. Wait until at least two months after surgery before attempting to kneel, as recommended by orthopaedic surgeons.

2. Provide support for the kneeling process. Do not kneel down before first making sure there is something nearby to support your weight as you lower and lift yourself back into a standing position, especially if you live alone. Have a walker, chair or table nearby that can provide support for your weight when you pull yourself back up.

3. Protect the knees with something soft. Kneeling is already uncomfortable, and placing the replaced knee on a hard surface, such as an uncovered floor, can be more difficult. Use a cushion, pillow or towel to give the knees a soft support during the kneeling process.

4. Kneel slowly, especially the first few times you attempt this after recovery. Grip the support you have already chosen, and maneuver your body down slowly, using one knee first, and then the other. If there is excessive pain, stop immediately and pull yourself upright. This exercise may take several attempts before it can be done without pain; in fact, some orthopaedic surgeons believe it will get easier the more you do it.

5. Pull yourself up slowly, as well, to make sure you do not strain the ligaments holding the new knee in place.

Find The Average Percentage Between Two Numbers

You can determine the percentage difference between two numbers.

The percentage difference between two numbers determines the average percentage change between them without favoring one number or the other as a starting point. For example, you can find the average percentage change between 15 basketball games played in one year and 10 basketball games played in another year if neither year is more important than the other. Percentage difference doesn't distinguish between a change from 10 to 15 or 15 to 10. Percentage difference equals the absolute value of the difference between two numbers, divided by their average, multiplied by 100. Absolute value means to make a negative result positive.

Instructions

1. Substitute the value of two numbers "a" and "b" in the percentage difference equation |a - b|/[(a + b)/2] x 100. The "|" symbols designate absolute value. For this example, use 15 for "a" and 10 for "b." This gives the equation |15 - 10|/[(15 + 10)/2] x 100.

2. Subtract 10 from 15 in the numerator of the equation -- 15 minus 10 equals 5.

3. Determine the absolute value of the result by making it a positive number if it is negative. The number 5 is already positive, so leave it positive.

4. Add 15 plus 10 in the denominator, which equals 25.

5. Divide 25 by 2, which equals 12.5. This is the denominator, which is the average of the two numbers. This leaves the equation 5/12.5 x 100.

6. Divide the numerator by the denominator -- 5 divided by 12.5 equals 0.4.

7. Multiply 0.4 by 100 to convert the number into a percentage. This equals 40 percent, which is the percentage difference between 10 and 15.

Make A Mobile

Make a Mobile

Kinetic art, commonly known as the mobile, can be as simple or complex as you would like to make it. Most of us are aware of mobiles that entertain babies and some of us remember creating solar systems with Styrofoam balls and wire. Today's kinetic art sculptures are far cry from Styrofoam and coat hangers. Know the basics, and you can create a masterpiece uniquely your own. Read on to learn make a mobile.

Instructions

1. Thread a thin wire or fishing line through the center of a wooden dowel.

2. Hang art pieces of equal weight on either side of the dowel, adjusting so that the dowel hangs relatively straight. This creates the basic structure of a mobile.

3. Apply more weight to one side than the other to create a unique design, keeping the dowel straight by adjusting the placement of the two art pieces.

4. Vary the placement of the wire or thread along the length of the dowel to accommodate art pieces of differing weights. Place the wire closer to the end that carries more weight.

5. Build upon this basic kinetic design by adding more dowels and or art pieces as weights until you are satisfied with the final outcome, making a mobile with variable levels and multiple art objects.

6. Decorate your weights and dowels in any manner of your choosing.

Get Rid Of Lower Belly Fat

Get the stomach you have always wanted!

The lower belly is a natural fat reservoir and an extremely stubborn spot to tone, so it can be quite challenging to get rid of lower belly fat. Regular crunches and sit-ups won't be enough to get rid of lower belly fat. The key is in targeting the lower abdominals with specific exercises to tone the muscles and erase the fat. The proper exercises, coupled with a healthy diet and cardio routine, will help to conquer that stubborn belly fat.

Instructions

1. Alter your diet to include more vegetables and lean proteins and less fat and sugar. Lean proteins will help you build muscles and burn fat in your lower belly. Even if you simply cut your fat and sugar intake in half, it will make a big difference in your fight against lower belly fat.

2. Do at least a half hour of cardio three times a week. Walking, jogging, biking and dancing are great options. Doing cardio will help you lose that extra layer of fat that keeps your abdominal muscles hidden.

3. Work your lower ab muscles to strengthen the muscle wall and burn belly fat. Do a few reps of scissors after your cardio exercise. Lie on your back with your hands underneath your buttocks. Lift your legs about a foot off the ground. Contract your lower ab muscles, and move your legs in a crisscross motion: move your right leg over the left, then open your legs apart and move your left leg over the right. Be careful not to bend your knees. Do about 10 to 15 reps.

4. Do a few reps of double leg reverse crunches. Lie on your back with your hands behind your buttocks as in Step 3. Raise your legs off the ground and bend your knees. With your knees bent, slowly lower your feet until they're three inches off the ground, and hold this position for a few seconds then return to starting position. Do about 10 to 15 reps.

5. Complete your lower belly workout with a set of the Pilates 100. Lie on your back with your arms at your sides. Lift your legs straight at a 45-degree angle. Keeping your arms straight, lift them a few inches off the floor. Contract your abs and lift your shoulders a few inches off the ground. Maintain this position and start pumping your hands up and down as you count to 100.

Give A Speech Before A Championship Game

Your team will most likely have some pre-game nerves before a championship game. It's important that your team be both relaxed and prepared before the game begins. A good pre-game speech should adequately prepare the team for what the players are about to experience. It should also motivate the team to victory. Here is give a speech before a championship game.

Instructions

1. Begin your speech by reminding your team of the overall game plan. Without question, your team should be aware of the plan days before the championship game. Still, it's a good idea to spend the first minutes of your pre-game speech emphasizing the important parts of the game plan. Try to spend no more than a few minutes on this portion of the speech.

2. Remind your team how they got this far. There are reasons why your team is playing for the championship, after all. Talk to your team about everything they have gone through during the season, especially any and all obstacles they have overcome. Your team will remember this part of the speech during the game, especially if they find themselves trailing at some point.

3. Tell your team how proud you are of them. It's important to let your players know that they've already achieved so much my just getting to the championship game. While simply playing for a championship isn't the ultimate goal, your team should be proud of their play thus far.

4. Emphasize how talented the opposing team is. Many teams lose championship games due to overconfidence or a belief that the other team is a “fluke.” Make sure your players know just how good the opposing players are that they are also playing in the championship game. Make sure your players never let their guard down during the game.

5. Explain to your team why you're going to win the championship game. Many players and coaches believe that it is a risk to have this much confidence heading into a championship game. Any good coach or player will tell you that if you don't believe you're going to win a game, you won't. Do everything you can to make your team not just believe but know that they're going to win the championship game.

6. End your speech emphatically and dramatically. You could end it with a quote from a famous coach or player or by yelling your closing points. The hope here is that your players will come roaring out of the locker room ready to win a championship.

Hook Up A Complete Dj System

Though becoming a DJ is now equated with laser light shows, picking the hottest music out there, and mixing records, it is only a small part of the industry. There are radio and mobile DJs, the latter which never see the heights of fame of the former. Nevertheless, one thing that each must depend on is a good sound system. It's what makes or breaks a gig, and an audience's experience is based primarily on the quality of the sound system.

Instructions

1. Clear your DJ area and make sure that you have enough room for your equipment. This is normally on a six- or ten-foot table.

2. Plug you power amp into a socket on the power strip. Plug the main speakers into the output of your power amps. Depending on the power amp, this may be 1/4-inch, banana clip, or SpeakOn outputs which twist and lock into place.

3. Plug you mixer into the power strip. Connect the DJ mixer outputs into the power amp inputs. Most modern amps have either 1/4-inch or XLR inputs.

4. Plug your music players into the power strip.

5. Connect the music players to the mixing board. The connectors are usually RCA cables. Those that use a laptop mixer will need a stereo 1/8-inch-to-RCA wire. If you have turntables, then connecting their ground wires to the GND clasp on the back of the mixer.

6. Double-check all connections. Make sure that all plugs are seated firmly. Decrease the volume controls on everything to zero. Turn on the power strip.

7. Turn on the power for the power amp, mixing board, and music players. Set the gain on your power amp to about 50 percent.

8. Turn down the main volume gain on the mixing board to zero. Plug in your headphones, and then load some music onto your music players.

9. Set your headphone levels. Turn up your mixer main gain to about 50 percent. Check levels and mix.

Improve The Signal On A Long Cable Run From A Satellite Receiver

So you're looking to get a better picture, sound and overall signal from your satellite dish. Generally, satellite dishes are installed on the roof of homes so there isn't much of a long wire run to get these things connected. However if you live in a particularly wooded area or are on large property, you may need to put your satellite dish elsewhere besides your roof, which could cause signal distortion.

Instructions

1. Measure your satellite cable run. These cannot be any longer than 300 feet under any circumstances; the signal will simply not push that far. If your run is longer than 300 feet, you will need to move your dish closer.

2. Replace your wire if it has any splits in it. Splitting your cable, even to connect it to just another single wire, will result in signal loss which, coupled with a long run, could be significant. Replace your entire signal run with one single, un-split cable to solve this problem.

3. Replace the coaxial connector ends. Cut off the old ends and attach new F-connectors to replace them. This can be done on your own or by purchasing a coaxial connector kit from a hardware store.

4. Weatherproof your connectors. Dust or water can interfere with your signal. Cover both metal coaxial connectors with caulk and allow to dry for one hour. Then completely wrap them up with electrical tape.

5. Add a satellite amplifier. These can be added at the dish, at your receiver or on both ends. This should be implemented as a last resort, however, as these can add distortion of their own. Insert the dish end of the coaxial cable into the input on your amplifier. Then attach a coaxial cable to the output of the amplifier. Finally connect that end to the Satellite In port on your satellite receiver.
