Make No Sew Table Runners

Table runners are a simple and great way to add a designer touch to any table or buffet--and no-sew table runners are a simple solution to making inexpensive runners in no time! Read on for the steps. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. A table runner can come in a variety of sizes. Depending on whether you are placing one runner down the length of your table or a few of them across the table is up to you. Here are the average sizes:

15-by-45 inches

15-by-72 inches

15-by-90 inches

15-by-108 inches

2. Decide on what size and how many you want to make.

Here is an idea of how much fabric you will need to buy:

15-by-45 inches (you will need 1 yard if the fabric is 54 inches wide or larger)

15-by-72 inches (you will need 2 yards if the fabric is 54 inches wide or larger)

15-by-90 inches (you will need 2 yards if the fabric is 54 inches wide or larger)

15-by-108 inches (you will need 3 yards if the fabric is 54 inches wide, but if the fabric is 56 inches wide or larger, you can get 2 yards)

3. Go to your local fabric shop and buy however many yards of fabric you will need.

4. Decide on a ribbon that will border the runner.

Here is how much ribbon you will need (including a little extra):

15-by-45 inches (4 yards)

15-by-72 inches (6 yards)

15-by-90 inches (7 yards)

15" W x 108" L (8 yards)

5. I recommend you choose a ribbon that is 4 to 6 inches wide. Be sure to buy enough stitch witchery to attach all of the ribbon you purchase.

6. Use the fabric scissors to cut the fabric into the exact size of the runner you wish to have.

7. Lay it on a towel on a flat surface or on the floor on a towel.

8. Take the ribbon and measure out how much you will need to do each side, then cut it accordingly. You should now have four pieces of ribbon.

9. Starting in one corner, fold the ribbon around both sides of the fabric.

10. Place the stitch witchery on the wide side and start to iron it on; don't worry about the backside yet.

11. Making sure it stays, do that strip of ribbon.

12. Do the same for all four pieces and then turn the fabric over and repeat for all four sides. Now you are done!
