Lose Weight By Walking & Jogging

Walking and jogging work well for weight loss and overall fitness.

Diet and exercise are both essential for weight loss and overall health. One method of exercise that zaps the calories is interval walking and jogging. Interval training is brisk walking with short bursts of jogging throughout. According to a 2007 study published in the "Journal of Applied Physiology," both fat- and calorie-burning rates increase substantially one hour after the workout. Consistency is crucial to lose weight by walking and jogging.

Instructions

1. Start out by briskly walking. Do only two 30-second jogging intervals the first two or three times. Once you get used to the activity, increase the total length and also the number of jogging intervals. The amount of time it takes varies.

2. Build up to 30 minutes of equal time walking and jogging. Burn an exceptional number of calories by doing this two to five times per week. The rate of calories burned increases when you do more jogging than walking.

3. Gradually increase the jogging so it is difficult to hold a conversation. Continue to alternate the walking and jogging. Jog for three to five minutes at a time and walk for two minutes.
