Make A Fabric Wire Wreath

Make your own fabric wire wreath to decorate your home for the holidays.

Although wreaths are associated with Christmas in North America, they actually have a long history dating back to ancient times. The original name for the wreath is diadem, which were decorated fabric headbands worn in the Persian Empire. Wreathes made out of leaves were given to the winners of the Olympic Games starting in 776 B.C. You do not need to be an Olympian to make a wreath. With a little fabric and some wire, make a wreath to add some flavor to your home.

Instructions

1. Cut the hook off a wire hanger, using wire cutters. Bend the wire into a circle, using pliers.

2. Connect the ends of the wire, using duct tape.

3. Cut 3-by-10 inch strips of fabric, using fabric shears. Use the same color fabric or various types of fabric.

4. Wrap the fabric strips around the wire and tie them at the ends. Continue until the wreath is the desired size.

5. Decorate the wreath with bows, ribbons or plastic decorations. Position the decorations around the wreath.

6. Warm a hot glue gun for three minutes. Squeeze a ¼-inch dot of glue to the back of your decorations, using a hot glue gun. Press the decorations onto the wreath and let the glue dry for one minute.
