Get A Proclamation From The Governor'S Office Of New York

Proclamations are made for regional and statewide events, and issued in conjunction with programs run by organizations and institutions. You can ask the governor of New York to dedicate a week to your cause or your industry. But first, you have to file a proclamation request with his office.

Get a Proclamation From the Governor's Office of New York


1. Go to the website for the Governor of the State of New York and access the "Official Proclamations" page. (Follow the link in Resources.)


2. Review the information on obtaining a proclamation. You can contact the Executive Chamber Operations/Proclamations Office directly by phone or mail.


3. Call the Proclamations Office to review the information required, and to ask about the timing to receive the proclamation. You may request a fax number to expedite the request. Get the person's name so you can follow up on your request.


4. Write a proclamation request letter to the governor. State the dates and the name of the week you are trying to have commemorated. Explain the significance of the event or cause, so that information can be included on the official proclamation document.


5. Follow up in a couple of weeks to check the status of the proclamation.
