Lean Out Bulk Muscle

Yoga is a fantastic exercise for creating leaner muscle.

Fitness goals can change over time. When a person is younger, or when he competes in a sport like football, it may seem important to create bulk and extremely large muscles. However, there might come a time in an athlete's and fitness enthusiast's life when he realizes the benefit to a body equipped with long, lean muscles rather than sheer bulk. By modifying a workout, it is possible to convert large muscles to longer, leaner muscles.

Instructions

1. Eat frequent meals. This is a dietary habit that most high-performance athletes and extremely fit individuals share. You should be eating five to six small, healthy meals every day. Your diet should contain a good mix of healthy proteins and complex carbohydrates and a small amount of healthy fat. The constant fuel keeps your body metabolizing energy throughout the day.

2. Start doing yoga immediately. Yoga is excellent for building long and lean muscle. The knowledge that yoga is useful for strength, coordination, endurance and injury prevention has even led professional football players to begin practicing this discipline that was once considered just simply stretching. Attend local yoga classes to get started.

3. Add more cardio to your workout routines. When bulking up and power lifting, a fitness enthusiast often avoids cardiovascular exercise in excess and chooses instead to concentrate on lifting the heaviest weights possible. To start the transformation from bulk to lean, hit the treadmill, bike or pool for approximately 30 minutes four to five days a week.

4. Focus on the muscle areas that you want to lean down, and lift weights that target those areas at very high repetitions. Use a very low weight that you can lift between 80 and 100 times. Do two sets of 80 to 100 reps for light weight training. This type of weight training will help to shrink large, bulky muscles and give you a leaner appearance, especially when combined with proper nutrition and sufficient cardio exercise. Do not alternate with heavy weight sessions if you want to continue to shrink muscles.
