Increase Boxing Stamina

Boxing stamina can be improved with a challenging training regimen.


Boxing is an aggressive sport in which two combatants punch and jab until one is knocked out or the designated number of rounds are completed. Boxers need to train regularly to improve and acquire their speed, strength, endurance and agility. Cardiovascular fitness is important for boxers to help them last in a 10-round boxing match. Building boxing stamina, when combined with great cardiovascular fitness, can improve a boxer's chances of maintaining his energy until the last round.


Instructions


1. Assess your current level of fitness. In order to know how much improvement you're making, you'll need to assess your current strengths and weaknesses in terms of fitness, especially in terms of stamina. Record how long you can last and use this as a baseline to track your improvement as you train.


2. Revitalize your diet. Eating a healthy diet is important to boosting your overall health, including your stamina as a boxer. Check with your physician to see if there are any special eating requirements recommended in order to improve your results.


3. Develop a strong training program. Incorporate high-intensity interval training into your fitness routine. Learning to use kettlebells, for example, are a great way to improve your endurance, stamina and cardio in a short amount of time, especially if you use them at least once a week.


4. Build mental stamina. Your mental stamina will improve your physical stamina by pushing you further than you knew was possible. Work through your physical fatigue by mentally powering yourself up and pushing through it.


5. Run more. Running is a time-tested and proven way to improve your stamina. You don't need to run a marathon, but running at least one mile or more on a regular basis will improve endurance and stamina that will keep you powered through your boxing matches.


6. Jump rope. Jumping rope allows you to burn calories, minimize energy slumps and boosts stamina. A few minutes daily with the jump rope can help you increase your stamina and rhythm and can burn 5-15 calories per minute.


7. Train longer. Practice your boxing routines for longer periods of time. Your body will adjust to endure longer as you stretch out your boxing match time.
