1. Check out Harajuku, which is one of the most stylish sections of Tokyo (if not the most stylish). The bustling street of Takeshita doori is full of Japanese teens dressed in every style under the sun--everything from Gothic to futuristic. There are countless boutiques and restaurants, and also a lot of crepe stands and outdoor dining experiences. This is definitely the Number One spot in which to buy and view all of the latest styles popular among the youth of Tokyo.
2. Go to Kichijoji: Slightly out in suburban Tokyo, this wonderful section is full of classic department stores, restaurants and boutiques. Be sure to check out Parco, Tokyo, Marui, Isetan or Lonlon. These are all quintessential Japanese department stores just brimming with the latest styles.
3. Visit Shibuya, the veritable epicenter of all the action in Tokyo. Not only are tons of businesses located here, but also a panoply of wonderful boutiques and department stores. Be sure to check out Isetan, perhaps one of the best department stores in Japan--and certainly one of the best--known, with no shortage of hip, youth-oriented items.
4. Stop by Shinjuku, another central area known for its endless fashionable boutiques and department stores. A great place to get stylish threads in Shinjuku is the Odakyu department store. Odakyu is a well-known shop with a great selection of fashion, from designer goods to more reasonably priced items.
5. Visit Ginza. Ginza is a stylish and rather expensive section of Tokyo. You'll find everything from fashionable boutiques to jewelry (the famous Mikimoto pearl shop) to larger department stores. This is probably Tokyo's most luxurious area, and you will be hard-pressed to walk down the street without running into elegant shops like Cartier. Mitsukoshi, Printemps (the French department store) and Matsuya are also excellent places to check out the stylish outfits.
