Heal A Pulled Muscle In The Neck

The neck is one of the most uncomfortable places on the body to have a pulled muscle. However, you do not need to go straight to a masseuse or chiropractor; you can attempt to relieve the pain yourself with some basic exercise and steps. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Relax the neck muscles by lying with adequate support under your neck, especially the first two days after pulling a neck muscle. Minimize your time working at a computer, and avoid turning your head as much as possible. You want to keep the neck muscles stationary.

2. Apply an ice pack 3 to 4 times a day, for about 20 minutes per session. The cold helps reduce inflammation and numbs the pain. Sit up straight when you do this step; don't just place the ice pack underneath your neck as you lie down.

3. Start with massage and exercise, once your pulled muscles begin to feel a little better. Do this by rolling your shoulders and neck slowly and carefully, and also by pinpointing where the pain is and massaging firmly with your fingertips. Or have someone else massage the area.

4. Drink room-temperature water and tea, or hot tea. The liquid helps soothe muscles all over your body.
