Impress The Judges At A Figure Competition

Figure competitors are athletes.

The difference between "figure" and "fitness" competitions is that figure offers the female athlete a chance to show off her hard earned physique without having to do the gymnastic routines that a fitness competition requires. Figure is all about having a muscular, yet feminine body, and knowing display that body to its finest on stage. The judges will be looking at you from head to toe, front to back. In addition to a strong, perfect physique, the judges want to see inner strength and confidence.

Steps to Impress

1. Muscular and feminine.

First and foremost, you must have a sculpted, muscular figure. The more symmetrical you are, top to bottom, front to back, the more visually appealing you become to the eye. Your muscles should not look masculine, but above all, nothing should jiggle.

2. Smiling is a sign of confidence.

The next thing the judges want to see is a beautiful smile. Smiling is a sign of confidence and is not as easy as it looks. Concentrating on walking out on a brightly lit stage in 5-inch heels, flexing every muscle and smiling at the same time requires tremendous poise and self-assurance. Maintaining your smile even when you think no one is looking can really impress the judges.

3. Next, the judges will notice the details, including your hair, makeup, skin tone, nails, jewelry, the fit of your suit, and how you walk in your shoes. All the extra details must be taken into consideration to complete the visual package.

4. The best physique will not impress the judges if it is not posed properly. Mandatory poses are done in a line with all the girls in your division and include the front pose, left side pose, rear pose and right side pose, with quarter turns being performed to transition from one to the next. In addition, at all times on stage, you should be posing. Never let your guard down because you never know when a judge might be looking.

5. A brief individual posing routine that includes walking out onto the stage by yourself, performing a front and back pose, as well as two or three of your favorite poses, should be mastered. At the end, a brief curtsy and wave to everyone is a fun way to show your personality to the judges.
