Keep Warm In Snow

When playing outside in the snow you lose a lot of body heat very rapidly. It becomes difficult to keep warm. There are many things you can do to prevent heat loss so you can still enjoy your favorite wintertime activities. Follow these steps to keep warm in the snow.

Instructions

1. Keep your feet dry. Wear boots that are waterproof and breathable. If your feet sweat the perspiration will make them wet. Gore-Tex boots are highly recommended.

2. Put on socks that are made of fleece or IsoWool instead of cotton to keep your feet warm in the snow. Cotton draws the moisture to your skin making your feet colder.

3. Dress in three layers. The layer next to your skin should be smooth, comfortable and most importantly, draw the moisture away from your skin. The middle layer should trap air pockets around to increase warmth, such as polyester fleece. The outer layer should block wind and water but allow moisture to escape. Once again, Gore-Tex is best.

4. Wear a hat that covers your ears to keep warm in the cold and snow. It should block the wind and it's advised to also wear a scarf with the hat.

5. Adorn gloves. The gloves must be layered with a warm lining. A wind-proof shell is essential and long cuffs increase the warmth.

6. Bring extras in case you do end up getting wet. You should pack extra socks, hats, gloves and boot liners to ensure you can keep warm in the snow if something unexpected happens.

7. Move as much as possible. The more you stay moving the more blood circulates throughout your body keeping you warm in the snow.
