Hook Up A Single Subwoofer To Your Dj Setup

Add a single subwoofer to your DJ setup for a bigger boom factor.

A subwoofer is a great addition to a DJ setup; it's the speaker that will create the booming bass that most DJs are looking for. To connect a single subwoofer to your DJ setup, use a powered or active subwoofer. This is a subwoofer with its own amplifier to power the speaker; it doesn't require a separate amp for the sub. There are several sizes of powered subwoofers on the market with enough boom for any DJ.

Instructions

1. Plug the two male ends of the Y-adapter into an output on your DJ mixer. It doesn't matter which plug on the adapter goes into the right or left output because the subwoofer will be using a mono signal.

2. Insert the end of the subwoofer cable into the female end of the Y-adapter connected to the DJ mixer.

3. Insert the other end of the subwoofer cable into the sub input on the powered subwoofer. There will only be one input for the cable because the subwoofer only uses a mono signal.

4. Plug the power cord coming from the powered subwoofer into an electrical outlet and turn on the subwoofer.
