Help The Childhood Leukemia Center

Knowing a child who is fighting leukemia can be incredibly difficult. It is heart-wrenching to watch someone so young fight the way that these children must do every day of their young lives. Even if you don't know someone with leukemia it can be difficult to hear the stories of some of those who have. Leukemia can be an incredibly serious problem and only has about a 51 percent survival rate among children, depending on the type they are diagnosed with. With over 200,000 people living with leukemia right now it may seem impossible to do anything to help them, but there are plenty of ways that you can help those diagnosed with leukemia.

Instructions

1. Donate money to the cause. You can set up monthly donations to the Childhood Leukemia Center that will be taken directly from your account every month. Employers will sometimes match money that employees give, so talk to your employer about matching your gifts.

2. Join Team in Training. This group supports leukemia centers all over the world. Team in Training organizes groups to run road races, marathons and triathlons to raise money and awareness for leukemia. If you are interested in doing any of these types of events they will give you coaching and help you along the way with support and training partners. In turn, you will need to canvas people you know for donations to the organization.

3. Join or start other community events to raise money and awareness. Putting together a small walk or fundraiser for leukemia research and support is quite simple. Just allow yourself the time to get the word out using fliers and emails and then additional time for people to start registering and getting sponsors and you are all set. You can either send the money directly to the leukemia centers or you can have them assist you in setting the program up so the money goes directly to them automatically.

4. Volunteer at one of the Childhood Leukemia Center's many events or at a nearby office. These locations and events are always looking for people to help them out with different things, whether it be interacting with the children or simply helping register people for different events. You can be a part of something larger than yourself when you simply volunteer your time to play a direct role in these children's lives and recovery.
