Have A Fundraiser For A Child With Cancer

You can help a child in need by raising funds.

Childhood cancer can be a devastating and heartbreaking situation. On top of the trauma of seeing a child go through cancer treatment, parents are often saddled with huge medical bills that can drain their entire savings and retirement accounts. One way you can help a family with a child that has cancer is to have a fundraiser to help pay for some of the expenses involved in treating childhood cancer.

Instructions

1. Sell snacks to raise money for a child with cancer. Many people find that they can give a couple dollars more readily than a larger donation. By selling snacks, such as cookies, lemonade, popcorn or brownies, smaller donations can be collected from larger numbers of people. You can create a roadside stand to sell the goodies in your neighborhood, or at a local shop that has given you permission to set up a stand. Place a large jar for donations next to the treats, and put up an information sign letting people know what the donations are for.

2. Organize an auction, where all of the funds can be donated to a child suffering from cancer. Many local businesses are often excited to donate an item or service to a fundraiser, which can benefit the business through promotion. People who attend the auction will receive the items or services in return for the monetary donation, which will be given to the cause. Give a short speech about the child before the auction begins to encourage higher bids.

3. Organize a run/walk. You can advertise a run/walk around your town to raise funds for a child with cancer, which can be attended by people of all ages and abilities. Charge a small entry fee for each participant, which will be donated to the child with cancer. Place a banner or a poster in highly-visible location to inform the participants about the child.
