Have A Reese Witherspoon Movie Marathon

Born in Louisiana in March 1976, Reese Witherspoon landed her first major movie role in the 1991 drama "The Man in the Moon." She became well-known thanks to her portrayal of bubblye blonde Elle Woods in 2001's "Legally Blonde" and the 2003 sequel "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde." One of the best ways to appreciate this actresses' talents is to have a movie marathon in her honor. Does this Spark an idea?

1. Watch the 1991 drama "The Man in the Moon," which marked Reese's first movie role. Reese portrays 14-year-old Dani Trant, who falls in love for the first time with 17-year-old Court Foster (Jason London).


2. Watch the 1998 fantasy drama "Pleasantville." Reese stars opposite Tobey Maguire as siblings who wind up transported into the 1950s black-and-white world they religiously watch on television. Their influence in this community brings about some profound changes. Co-stars include William H. Macy, Joan Allen and Jeff Daniels.


3. Watch the 1999 romance-drama "Cruel Intentions." Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Kathryn, a girl who makes a bet that her stepbrother Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) won't be able to sleep with virginal Annette (Reese). If he loses the bet, then Kathryn gets his Jaguar; but if he wins, he gets Kathryn.


4. Watch the 1999 comedy-drama "Election." Reese stars as Tracy Flick, a high-school girl running unopposed for a student post. However, her teacher, Jim McAllister (Matthew Broderick), has a different plan for the election. In an effort to establish a more democratic process (and satisfy his personal anger issues with Tracy), Jim talks football player Paul Metzler (Chris Klein) into running for president against her.


5. Watch the 2001 comedy "Legally Blonde" and its 2003 sequel, "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde." Reese headlines as Elle Woods, a ditzy sorority girl turned law student who works her way up in the legal system with her dog Bruiser; lots of pink clothing and accessories; and a positive, can-do attitude.


6. Watch the 2002 romantic comedy "Sweet Home Alabama." Reese stars as Melanie Carmichael, a woman who left her roots in Alabama to make it in the New York fashion industry. Engaged to city socialite Andrew Hennings (Patrick Dempsey), Melanie must first return to Alabama to settle lingering issues regarding a prior marriage to a southern boy (Josh Lucas) whom many people in her current life know nothing about.


7. Watch the 2005 romantic comedy "Just Like Heaven." Reese stars as Elizabeth, a dedicated, workaholic doctor who is too busy to have a personal life. She gets into a car accident one night and becomes a spirit stuck between heaven and earth. She doesn't know she's dead until she meets David (Mark Ruffalo), an architect who is renting her old apartment. David is the only person who can see and communicate with her. He works to help Elizabeth settle her "unfinished business" on Earth and get her out of limbo.


8. Watch the 2005 musical drama "Walk The Line," which tells the true story of Johnny Cash. Joaquin Phoenix stars as the musician, showcasing his early days on a cotton farm and his struggle with drugs as he rises to the top. Reese stars as June Carter, Johnny's love interest, who finally accepts his marriage proposal after years of asking. Reese won the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of June.
