Increase Mental Focus

Mental focus means clearing the mind and focusing on one thing. People have very busy lives these days, and busy minds often lack mental focus. When the mind spends too much time multitasking, some important things get forgotten. This is why mental focus is so important. Most successful athletes, writers and musicians have to ability to focus mentally, so let's take a cue from them.

Instructions

1. Start a routine of meditating each day. Meditation teaches the mind to focus, because to meditate one must be able to clear the mind. Try a meditation that focuses on one object, like a lit candle's flame or a crystal. Focus on that one item until that is all that is in the mind. Do this often until it seems natural.

2. Concentrate on breathing. This is another mediation technique that can be used to gain more mental focus. Count your breaths in and out, and be sure to breathe at even intervals. Breathing techniques teach the mind to focus strictly on one event, blocking out all else.

3. Practice performing only one task at a time. Start a routine of doing only work, only housecleaning, only watching television. Teach the mind and body not to multitask.
