Make Cowboy Decorations

Make your own cowboy party decorations.

Cowboys are elusive, mysterious and beyond cool in the eyes of most kids, which is precisely the reason why so many kids want to have cowboy parties for their birthday. If your child is one that loves the idea of a cowboy party, you can make it happen without spending a fortune; most of the decorations for the party are things you can make yourself out of inexpensive things you probably have laying around the house. Get your kids together to help and turn planning the party into a cowboy marathon. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Make "Wanted" posters and place pictures of the birthday boy in each poster. Hang the posters on the walls and use them as wild West decorations. Make it even more personal by adding photos of your guests to the "Wanted" posters before you hang them on the walls and doors of your house.

2. Make cowboy vests out of paper grocery bags. Turn the bag upside-down and cut an opening all the way to the top. Continue cutting a round area at the top of the vest, which is actually the bottom of the bag, to make a neck hole. Let your guests make their own fringe along the bottom of their vests by cutting or ripping them and present each guest with a cardboard cutout of a sheriff's badge.

3. Throw ropes around the furniture like lassos to represent the cowboys of the old West. Hang bandanas around the house and pick up a few hale bays from a nearby farm or party supply store to place strategically around the house or yard.

4. Create a lasso contest from scratch by placing an old rocking horse in the backyard. Tie a short rope to a hula hoop and let young party guests practice lassoing the horse by throwing the hula hoop around the rocking horses' neck.
