Get A Vendor'S License In Miami Florida

Vendors can have a brick-and-mortar or mobile establishment.


Vendors offer products to businesses or consumers and can have a fixed or mobile establishment. Vendors typically offer products such as food, plants or beverages; tto do so, they must adhere to strict city, county and state guidelines. In Miami, Florida, potential vendors cannot barbecue, offer seating or stand within 500 feet of schools or parks. A number of steps must be completed to obtain the legal authorization to vend; these include business registration, agricultural clearance and the establishment of a tax account. Miami does not issue a single "vendor's" license, but acquiring the appropriate certificates and accounts authorizes a business to sell its products.


Instructions


1. Complete the business registration process with the Florida Department of State. If you plan to use a name other than your own, you must register a DBA, or "doing business as," name designation. You can call the department at (850) 245-6058 or visit the department's website to request the required forms.


2. Contact the City of Miami Finance Department at (305) 416-1918 to obtain a City of Miami Business Tax Receipt, which is required to obtain a vendor's license. You must visit one of the City NET offices or the City of Miami Administration Building to apply for the receipt.


3. Contact the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector's Office to obtain a Miami-Dade County Local Business Tax Receipt, which is required in addition to the city Business Tax Receipt. Call the office at (305) 270-4949 to request the required forms and information about fees specific to your situation.


4. Request a certificate from the Florida Department of Agriculture, if required. For example, if you plan to sell plants, water, ice cream or food, you must submit to an inspection for general public safety.
