Know the History of the Cowardly Lion Costume
1. Know that the Cowardly Lion is a character in the "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" book by Frank Baum.
2. Keep in mind that the Cowardly Lion is very shy but does speak and interact with humans.
3. Know that the Cowardly Lion often travels with companions Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Toto the Dog.
Make a Cowardly Lion Costume
4. Take a light brown-colored hooded sweat suit one size larger than what you usually wear, and turn it inside out. This will serve as your "furry" upper torso.
5. Cut an oval of brown felt or fur, which will be the furry belly.
6. Stitch the felt or bur on with brown thread, or use fabric glue to adhere it.
7. Cut out 2 ear-shaped pieces of felt or fur.
8. Stitch the 2 ears to the top of the hooded sweatshirt.
9. Cut out long strips of felt or fur. Sew them around your face on the hood of the sweatshirt.
10. Sew as many strips as you find visually appealing. The more strips you attach to the hood, the thicker the mane will look.
11. Create a tail for your costume. You can cut out a long strip of fur and sew on small strips at the end for a fringe.
12. Attach the tail to your matching light brown track pants. Put on your pants and shirt.
13. Put on a pair of brown slippers.
14. Slip on a pair of tan-colored mittens to complete your costume.

15. Paint black whiskers on your face.
16. Paint the rest of your face in tan paint, and add brown eyeliner around your eyes.
17.Paint the top of your nose black.
