Have Kids Raise Money For Charity

Have Kids Raise Money for Charity

Kids need to see that there is more to money than just purchasing things for self satisfaction. There are people out there in need, who do not have money to even buy food. There are also a lot of organizations that need money to find cures for diseases or save animals from extinction. Parents can help kids raise money for charity to teach them a valuable lesson about ways to put their money to good use.

Instructions

1. Choose a charity to support. You can pick a few charities that you know are legitimate and present them to your child. Let your child pick which charity he wants to raise money for. Your child will raise more money if he is excited about the organization he is supporting.

2. Give your child a large plastic container to decorate. The container should be decorated in a way that represents the organization she is raising money for. For example, if she is raising money for the local animal shelter, she will want to draw some cats and dogs on the container. She might even use some bone or paw print stickers.

3. Take your child door to door or get permission from a grocery store to stand outside with your donation container to collect money for your chosen charity. It is important that children do not do this alone, however. A parent should always be there to supervise the child and keep him safe.

4. Organize a party that your children can invite their friends to. You can charge an admittance fee that will go to support the charity. For example, you could have a tea party and charge $5 for each child who attends. If you invited 10 children, you would make $50 to donate to your charity.

5. Show your kids use the Internet to raise money for the charity. Kids can email their friends and family members and let them know how they can donate. You can also set up an account with a fundraising website and show your kids email the website link to family and friends.
