Help People In Poor Countries

Hold a car wash to raise money for poor countries.

Individuals often think about ways they can help those in need. Undeveloped or "third world" nations are generally poorer than the United States, and therefore worthy of charitable contributions. It may seem overwhelming to begin assisting those people in need of basic food or health assistance, but luckily international aid organizations have been in existence for many years in order to carry out this mission. The best way to help struggling populations is to find the charity or organization that suites your intentions and has a good record of success. Attempting to send resources or money directly to undeveloped nations can end in the contribution reaching the wrong persons or being used ineffectively.

Instructions

1. Research organizations that help people in less-developed nations and poorer countries. Network for Good is an online resource that can link individuals to multiple international organizations and allows for easy keyword research and online contributions. Unicef and the International Red Cross are very well established agencies with an excellent reputation for assisting those in need.

2. Choose which agency or organization best fits the type of people or nations you would like to assist. The focus could be on health, children, disaster relief or on improved farming techniques and education. Most aid agencies are in agreement that financial contributions are much more effective than donating food or clothing directly, as these items require sorting and prohibitive shipping costs.

3. Network with friends and family, inquiring if they would like to help support the organization or charity you have chosen. Ask if they are willing to take part in a fundraiser for your chosen agency.

4. Hold a charity event with an advertisement that all proceeds will go to the international aid organization you have chosen. The options are endless and could include a fancy dinner, flea market, dance, bake sale or car wash with all profits going to said agency.

5. Collect all contributions and deposit into a secure bank account for redistribution. Most charitable organizations can be easily contacted for donations online, and most accept check donations through the mail as well. Make sure to thank all donors.
