Host A Fundraising Party

Put the fun back in fundraising.

Fundraising is often the central focus of a charitable organization. Many schools also have to spend a great deal of time raising funds to make up for shortfalls in funding. Raising funds can be done in many different ways, from having bake sales to holding auctions. An effective but sometimes overlooked approach is to host a fundraising party. To do this effectively requires planning, whether it is expected to be a small party or a huge gathering.

Instructions

1. Brainstorm to choose the theme for your party and the food. Then select the party location. For a large party, you should keep in mind the need for parking and restrooms.

2. Choose the primary fundraising method. You might want to keep it simple by raising money through the sale of the food being served, either by the plate or at tables where people will buy what they want. As an alternative or in addition, you might want to have a donation box prominently displayed.

3. Add activities. These can be either just for fun or help raise additional funds. For example, you might offer a game fitting with the party theme that people can pay a dollar to play.

4. Create a schedule for the event that can be mailed with the invitations. You should include the time, location, nature and purpose of the event.

5. Send invitations to the people you want to invite. Choose those who are likely to actually give to your charity, since you want to maximize your potential fundraising ability.
