Help With Suede Blazer Wrinkles

Treat your suede blazer with the utmost care.

A suede blazer is a justifiable fashion investment since it can be worn with jeans for a rugged, yet chic look or with business professional attire at the office. You'll likely stow this piece away during warmer months, but once it's time to wear it again, the blazer will need to be treated for its wrinkles. Suede is a very delicate form of leather that requires careful handling, so be sure to take the proper precautions to avoid a ruined wardrobe staple.

Instructions

1. Put the suede blazer on a sturdy hanger, and hang it in a place in your bathroom away from the bathtub or shower. For example, you could hang it from a hook on the back of your bathroom door or from a light fixture near a window or sink. Keep the door and any windows closed.

2. Take a hot shower or, if you've already bathed, run the water as if you were going to take a hot shower. Allow the steam from the shower to fill the room and loosen any wrinkles in your suede blazer.

3. As a last resort for releasing wrinkles, heat an iron on the lowest possible heat setting. Suede shouldn't get wet, so by using the low heat setting, you'll avoid the moisture, water, or steam that results from higher heat settings.

4. Place a brown paper bag over the place on your blazer that you'd like to iron. Iron on top of the bag, so that the bag acts as a barrier between the garment and the warm iron. Move the iron back and forth over the section until the wrinkles disappear. Place the same paper bag over another area and iron it until you've straightened out all wrinkles.
