Go Hiking In Mt Charleston Nevada

Summit sign on the peak of Mt. Charleston, elevation 11,918 feet

A little-known gem located only 30 minutes from Las Vegas, the Mt. Charleston area provides some incredible hiking. With temperatures that average 20 to 30 degrees cooler than Las Vegas, it's the ideal getaway for some outdoor fun. The scenery is pretty incredible, too!

Instructions

1. Get a guidebook for your trip, as it will provide you with the best directions to the hiking areas. Some of the best are Afoot and Afield: Las Vegas and Southern Nevada by Brian Beffort and Hiking Southern Nevada by Branch Whitney.

2. Drive to the Mt. Charleston area. Your guidebook will tell you if your chosen hiking trail is located off of Kyle Canyon Rd., Lee Canyon Rd., Cold Creek, or Mt. Potosi. The above referenced guidebooks have very accurate directions.

3. Park your vehicle at the appropriate trailhead. Please be sure to stay in marked parking areas.

4. Inventory your gear before setting out on your hike. Make sure your car keys are secured to yourself or your backpack and lock you vehicle.

5. Enjoy your hike! The Spring Mountains/Mt. Charleston area is very picturesque and will provide you many opportunities for great photos. Be sure to stay on marked trails!
