Have An Egg Race

Although you may typically run an egg relay using plastic spoons to carry or roll hardboiled eggs across a finish line, challenge kids with an updated version of the classic. Try these fun ways to carry eggs alone and in teams to make the race even more exciting.

Instructions

1. Divide kids into teams and form two lines about 10 to 15 feet away from the "goal." Ask each child to balance a hardboiled egg on the bridge of his nose or under his chin as he takes turns racing to the finish line and back so the next player can take his turn. If a player drops his egg, he must start his leg of the race over again.

2. Give each person a small aquarium net and make her pass an egg (that you haven't boiled) to the next player's net without breaking it. Have older kids stand farther apart so they need to toss the eggs a short distance. (See Resources)

3. Line players up several yards from the finish line and have them race to the end while balancing a plastic Easter egg between their knees. Even the odds by having older kids balance two or three eggs at a time.

4. Choose teams of two and have each teammate hold one end of a fabric strip that's about 2 inches wide and a foot long. Place an unboiled egg in the center and ask the teams to race to the finish line without dropping their eggs.
