Forget An Ex Who Cheated

Cheating often means to end of a relationship for many people.

However badly an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend may have behaved, a close relationship can be difficult to let go. Living in the past and dwelling on negative actions makes it difficult to meet new people and live life to the fullest. Fortunately, there are few techniques that can help you to forget a cheating ex and move on with your life.

Instructions

1. Throw away anything that belonged to the ex. It's very difficult to forget a relationship if there are constant reminders around the house, whether it's old clothing, jewelry, sports equipment or anything else. Part of severing the connection to an old flame is removing the sights, sounds and smells that were so familiar during the relationship.

2. Delete all email addresses, phone numbers and destroy any information that may be used to get back in contact with an ex. If the relationship was a long one, or the bond was very strong, there will almost certainly be periods of weakness when you want to reconnect. It is much easier to resist this temptation if there is no obvious way to contact the ex.

3. Ask for help from friends, not only to be there in weak moments but also to prove that life can be enjoyable without the relationship. Close friends can often spot warning signs, and also should know what it takes to lighten the mood. Friends are often easier to talk to than family as certain details might be less embarrassing to discuss.

4. Use the anger and the hurt. Breaking up with an ex who cheated is different from an ordinary split. The ex has committed an unforgivable act of betrayal and disrespect and this should obscure any of the good qualities that made the relationship work up to that point. Use the fact that the ex is capable of doing something so awful to reevaluate the relationship. This should make it easier to objectively survey the relationship, see the flaws more clearly and separate the image from the reality.
