Heal After A Csection

Heal After a C-Section

A C-section can cause a lot of trauma to your body. It is a surgical procedure and the patient can be put at risk for complications if they do not take care of themselves. To heal properly after a C-section, you should abide by these guidelines.

Instructions

1. Ask for medication for the pain. As you heal, you will be experiencing a large amount of pain and may need pain medication to help you deal with it.

2. Get up and move around slowly at first. Moving around will help relieve the gas that you may experience as well as relieve your sluggish feeling. If you feel unsteady on your feet, ask for assistance.

3. Drink a lot of water. Fluids will prevent constipation and assist in flushing your system out.

4. Check the site of the C-section daily for any signs of infection. Call your doctor immediately if the incision site becomes red, swells or you suddenly feel a large amount of pain.

5. Allow yourself to rest often. Ask a family member to stay with you at all times while you are recovering.

6. Take care of yourself mentally. Your mind also needs to heal after a C-section. Many women feel depressed that they were unable to have a vaginal birth. Talk to someone if you begin to notice symptoms of depression.
