Set clear goals and achieve them.
In order to fulfill your dreams, it is essential to establish a clear path that leads to this achievement. The path will be created by the goals you select in order to reach your dream. Realizing the small steps that will lead to the achievement of a dream will clearly define your goals.
Instructions
1. Pick a dream, any dream. The first step to fulfilling your dreams will be to choose a dream to fulfill. Some people have so many dreams that they never focus on one. There are others who have trouble putting their finger on even one dream they would like to fulfill. It is crucial to select a dream you are truly passionate about achieving. This will make working toward it a plausible reality. For instance, a large dream may be to run a marathon.
2. Write it all down. Figure out what goals you must achieve in order to fulfill your dream and write them down. Return to your writing when you have something to change. Once you fulfill a goal, write it down. If you need to change your goals, write that down. Few Americans have written goals, and fewer still review and revise their goals regularly. If you want to run a marathon, you would write that down. Then you would write down nutrition and exercise goals that will pave the way to the marathon run.
3. Start learning. After writing you goals down, it will be time to start achieving them. Try to find classes, books or anything you need to obtain the knowledge required to achieve your goals. Acquire an academic degree (or several) that will lead you on the path toward fulfilling your dream. Learn everything you can about the process as you are completing it. You might buy books written by successful marathon runners or sign up for training with a marathon runner.
4. Move things around. As you begin achieving your goals, you will see your life changing. There may be activities, appointments or routines for which you no longer have time. Move your schedule around as necessary to achieve your goals. If you are running a marathon, you will need to find time to schedule your longer runs.
5. Set a deadline for your dream and plan to stick to it. If the deadline is a few years out, create more deadlines for individual goals as your work toward the deadline. Make sure your family and friends know about your dream and your progress. They will be supportive and happy for you. Telling your friends and family will also up the ante on failing to achieve your goal. In the marathon example, you would find a date of a marathon you want to run. If it is one year away, you want to make sure all your friends and family know that they can come out and support you on the day of the marathon--or even train with you if they're up to it.
6. If all goes well, you will realize your dream. If something comes up, like a significant life change, your dreams are not lost. It is simply a matter of realizing new dreams and writing down the goals to achieve them. If you incur an injury while training for the marathon, your new goals may include rehabilitation and working your way back up to running a marathon at a later date.
