Maybe you don't mind going stag to your cousin's wedding or spending Valentine's Day with your boyfriends Ben and Jerry and a good chick flick, but New Year's Eve is one occasion where most singles don't want to be alone. If you want to sing "Auld Lang Syne" with someone special--or at least someone with a pulse--here's find a date for New Year's Eve.
Instructions
1. Start looking early, as soon after the last New Year's Eve that it occurs to you that you want a date the next time December 31 rolls around. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, obviously it will be easier to count on their presence at a New Year's Eve party--but anyone you've had a few good dates with is a prospective companion for the holiday.
2. Look online for other singles. Even if you don't find Ms. Wonderful right away, you'll identify lots of people in the same boat as you who are also hoping to find a date on New Year's Eve. Meet for lunch or drinks a week or two before the big night to make sure this is someone you would enjoy spending New Year's Eve with.
3. Invite out a friend with benefits. That buddy you occasionally hook up with might even be a better choice than a new relationship because the two of you already have a rapport and there's less risk that things will go wrong. Plus, you can count on a kiss when the ball drops on Times Square.
4. Ask out someone you have a crush on. New Year's Eve is a great time to take the plunge and look forward to something exciting in the new year.
5. Pick someone up at a singles bar on New Year's Eve if all else fails. New Year's Eve is a fun time to be single and on the prowl, and you never know who might want to buy you a martini.
