Your fat dog is not lazy; he just needs more exercise.
Like humans, dogs need exercise to burn calories and expend energy. Unlike humans, they are not in control of how much they are exercised; so, if you think your dog is lazy, think again. Dogs need, and want, to be active; but they cannot be, not without your help. You, and only you, are responsible for his health and well being. Exercise him more to help him overcome being "lazy."
Instructions
1. Make sure your dog's weight is appropriate. Fat dogs tend to be less active because it's harder for them to move around comfortably. If your dog is fat, feed him less, or ask the vet to recommend a high-quality diet dog food.
2. Walk your dog. Start with short walks if he is out of shape, gradually increasing the distance as he gains condition. Go several times a day, if possible.
3. Take your dog swimming if he likes this activity. Swimming is especially beneficial for overweight dogs, as the water buoys them and decreases the strain on their joints.
4. Play with your dog in your yard several times a day. Start with short sessions and increase the time as he gets into better shape. Throw a ball, play tug, or chase each other; whatever gets him moving.
