Get A Liquor License In The State Of Florida

Florida requires individuals and businesses to have a liquor license if they plan to sell, manufacture or distribute alcohol. Liquor licenses are needed to sell and distribute alcohol, beer and wine at retail locations, bars, lounges, restaurants and events, and can be obtained on a temporary or permanent basis. The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco through the local district office handles the application and approval process for licenses.

Instructions

1. Determine the type of alcohol you would like to sell and to whom you plan on selling it. Several types of liquor licenses can be obtained: those for lodges and clubs, caterer, race track caterer, consumption on premises, retail location and more. Each type of liquor license has its own set of requirements and forms.

2. Apply for a alcohol license. Navigate to myfloridalicense.com. Click on "Apply For a License" from the top menu. Select the first option, "Learn more about licensing" from the resulting page. Click on the "Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco" link and select the type of liquor license you would like to apply for.

3. Complete the application. Additional requirements may also need to be met, including health and zoning approval, right of occupancy, arrest disposition and moral character. The instructions list all the requirements.

4. Pay the licensing fee. License fees very based on counties. A permanent license fee is typically $100; a temporary license fee may be only a fourth the cost of a permanent license. Fees will be listed with the application.

5. Submit application, licensing fee and any additional requirements to your local district office. A list of district office addresses and contact information can be found under the "District Office Contact Information" in Resources.
