Get A Sponsor For Charity

Making phone calls to potential donors and business owners is one tactic to consider when seeking sponsorships.

Company banners and logos are visible at both large-scale and small-scale events. Community festivals, gala events and 10K runs all have visible logos that derive from sponsorships. It's important to cultivate sponsorships when hosting a charity event. Sponsorships not only generate funding for a charity, but they also help to enhance the rapport between the nonprofit and the sponsor.

Instructions

1. Determine who your target audience is before you seek out specific sponsors. Potential sponsors are typically interested in a large amount of people seeing their company logo, as well as advertising their company to people who can relate to their business. For example, if the organization is hosting a family fun day event, then potential sponsors may be children's clothing stores or local toy stores, considering the audience will be primarily families and children.

2. Call potential sponsors on the phone. Although calling company owners or managers is time-consuming, it is a money-saving and effective way to obtain charity sponsors. On the phone, deliver a pitch that will explain not only the event and your organization but also how becoming a sponsor will be beneficial to the company. Ensure this pitch is no longer than 20 seconds, and keep in mind that you can elaborate if the potential sponsor seems interested or asks questions. If it's in the budget to mail donors proposal letters requesting a sponsorship, then this method may also be an effective sponsor-seeking strategy.

3. Follow up with sponsors and establish a positive rapport. After a company has agreed to donate a certain amount of money to a charity, then it's crucial to remain connected with the company. Mail thank-you notes to the sponsor, and provide an overview of the sponsorship details and benefits. Also, include the sponsor's name in any and all marketing initiatives, and include the company's logo on all printed material, such as fliers, brochures and t-shirts.
