Stop foot blisters with shoes that fit correctly.
Constant rubbing from shoes can create welts or blisters on feet, which may become infected. The best way to prevent blisters is to purchase shoes that fit your feet and do not slide. If you already have a pair of shoes that irritate feet, you need to find ways to stop the footwear from causing friction. With certain techniques and tools, you can keep your shoes from hobbling your feet.
Instructions
1. Shop for shoes later in the day or evening, when feet have swollen from walking. Try on both shoes and walk around the store. If the shoe pinches or rubs against the heel, try a different size. Wear the same type of socks or hose that you will wear with the new shoes.
2. Place a heel guard on the inside of the shoe. Put the heel guard into the shoe, before removing the adhesive backing. Cut the heel guard with scissors to fit. Peel off the adhesive backing and place them into the shoes, pressing firmly against the heel. The extra padding may keep your heel from sliding.
3. Layer two pairs of socks or wear thick socks. The extra cushion keeps the foot from sliding in hiking boots or tennis shoes.
4. Tie shoes tight enough that your feet feel secure, but not squeezed. Properly laced shoes keep the foot from slipping.
